Case Reports
Tubal ectopic twin pregnancy of complete hydatidiform mole and coexisting embryo: A rare case report.
Ectopic twin gestation involving a complete hydatidiform mole (CHM) and coexisting embryo is an exceedingly rare occurrence. ⋯ In the management of ectopic pregnancy involving CHM, it is crucial to enhance the accuracy of preoperative diagnosis. Additionally, histopathological examination of the salpingectomy specimen and conceptus is definitely essential for accurate diagnosis and appropriate follow-up management of tubal pregnancies.

Observational Study
Anterior fontanel size in Korean nursery newborns and clinical implications of large anterior fontanel: A retrospective cohort, observational study.
Anterior fontanel (AF) sizes in newborns are influenced by ethnicity, gender, genetics, nutrition, and other pathological conditions. However, AF sizes in recent Korean newborns have not been reported yet. Thus, this study aimed to understand variation in AF size and clinical implications of large AF sizes in newborns. ⋯ For the largest AF size, a cutoff of 3.65 cm met the 97-percentile of the cohort. Both SGA weight and head circumference were risk factors for large AF size. For the largest AF size, intracranial lesions and vitamin D deficiency as well as SGA presented clinical implications.

Case Reports
Case report of laryngeal infection by Clinostomum complanatum 24 days after ingestion of raw fish.
Clinostomum complanatum is a laryngeal fluke whose hosts include birds and mammals.[1] In humans, infection occurs accidentally during the consumption of raw freshwater fish.[1,2]. ⋯ To the best of our knowledge, this is an endoscopically diagnosed and treated case of human infection by C complanatum in Korea after the longest period of infection. This suggests that C complanatum can survive for up to 3 weeks or more in the gastrointestinal tract. Endoscopy is a useful tool for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with atypical extraesophageal symptoms who do not respond to Proton Pump Inibitors.

The purpose of this study was to examine the mechanism of Duhuo Jisheng Decoction (DHJSD) in the treatment of intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD). ⋯ This study uncovers the multi-component, multi-target, and multi-pathway characteristics of DHJSD for the treatment of IVDD, offering fresh perspectives to further investigate the mechanism of DHJSD for the treatment of IVDD.

Patent foramen ovale, a common congenital atrial septal defect, may lead to cardiac right-to-left shunting (RLS), which has been associated with various diseases. Reliable techniques for detecting RLS are essential for diagnosis and assist with treatment decision-making. Contrast transcranial Doppler (c-TCD), contrast transthoracic echocardiography (c-TTE), and contrast transesophageal echocardiography can be used to detect RLS. ⋯ Among the 66 patients who were double-RLS-positive (both c-TTE and c-TCD showed positive results), as detected by the synchronous test, 26 (39.3%) patients who underwent c-TTE alone had higher shunt grades detected than those who underwent c-TCD alone. Conversely, 5 (7.6%) patients who underwent c-TCD alone had higher shunt grades detected than those who underwent c-TTE alone (P = .000). Synchronous c-TCD and c-TTE testing can significantly improve the detection rate, accuracy, and test process efficacy for quantifying RLS, and reduce the testing risk, workload, and medical costs.
