One of the main causes of death is out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA), which has a poor prognosis and poor neurological outcomes. This phenomenon has attracted increasing attention. However, there is still no published bibliometric analysis of OHCA. ⋯ The research frontier identification revealed that 7 categories were classified, including therapeutic hypothermia, emergency medical services, airway management, myocardial infarction, extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation, stroke foundation and trial. The burst detection analysis revealed that percutaneous coronary intervention, neurologic outcome, COVID-19 and extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation are issues that should be given continual attention in the future. This bibliometric analysis may reflect the current status and future frontiers of OHCA research.

This study aimed to assess the association between pain burden and presence of any limitation among older adults (≥50 years of age) with pain who used opioids in the United States. This cross-sectional study used 2020 Medical Expenditure Panel Survey data and included all adults aged 50 or older, who were alive for the 2020 calendar year, used an opioid at least once in the calendar year, and reported having pain in the past 4 weeks. Unadjusted and adjusted logistic regression models were developed to assess the association between any limitation (AL) (yes or no), pain burden (extremely, quite a bit, moderately, or little bit) and the control variables among a nationally representative sample of United States adults. ⋯ Extreme, quite a bit, and moderate pain burden were significantly associated with greater odds of reporting AL compared to little pain burden. Developing effective pain management strategies that address not only pain relief but also functional improvement among this population is of importance. Future research could then be conducted to determine the most effective pain management strategies that will provide pain relief and improve their functional abilities.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) have emerged as a valuable and promising research field in eye diseases. However, there are few bibliometric studies in this area. The purpose of this study was to employ bibliometric analysis to visualize the research hotspots and trends of EVs in eye diseases and provide researchers with new perspectives for further studies. ⋯ This study provides a scientific perspective on EVs in eye diseases and provides valuable information for researchers to detect current research conditions, hotspots, and emerging trends for further study.

Comparing machine learning and logistic regression for acute kidney injury prediction in trauma patients: A retrospective observational study at a single tertiary medical center.
Acute kidney injury (AKI) is common in patients with trauma and is associated with poor outcomes. Therefore, early prediction of AKI in patients with trauma is important for risk stratification and the provision of optimal intensive care unit treatment. This study aimed to compare 2 models, machine learning (ML) techniques and logistic regression, in predicting AKI in patients with trauma. ⋯ The accuracy score showed no differences between the 2 groups; however, the recall and F1 score were significantly higher in the ML model (.94 vs 56 and.75 vs 64, respectively). The ML model performed better than the logistic regression model in predicting AKI in patients with trauma. ML techniques can aid in risk stratification and the provision of optimal care.

Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is a multifactorial disease that is associated with nucleus pulposus (NP) apoptosis and extracellular matrix (ECM) degeneration and inflammation. Astragaloside IV (AS IV) has antioxidant, free radical scavenging, anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptosis effects. This study was to investigate whether AS IV could inhibit IL-1β-mediated apoptosis of HNP cells and its possible signal transduction pathway. ⋯ AS IV can inhibit IL-1β-induced HNPCs apoptosis inflammation and ECM degeneration by activating PI3K/Akt signaling pathway, which can be an effective drug to reduce disc degeneration.
