Amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) is a stage between normal aging and Alzheimer disease (AD) where individuals experience a noticeable decline in memory that is greater than what is expected with normal aging, but dose not meet the clinical criteria for AD. This stage is considered a transitional phase that puts individuals at a high risk for developing AD. It is crucial to intervene during this stage to reduce the changes of AD development. ⋯ This review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the brain structure and functional networks associated with aMCI. By analyzing the existing literature on multimodal magnetic resonance imaging and aMCI, this study seeks to uncover potential biomarkers and gain insight into the underlying pathogenesis of aMCI. This knowledge can then guide the development of future treatments and interventions to delay or prevent the progression of aMCI to AD.

Albumin had been found to be a marker of inflammation. The purpose of our study was to investigate the relationship between albumin and C-reactive protein (CRP) in 3579 participants aged 60 to 80 years from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). In order to evaluate the association between albumin and CRP, We downloaded the analyzed data (2015-2018) from the NHANES in the United States, and the age of study population was limited to 60 to 80 years (n = 4051). ⋯ Besides, CRP level decreased faster with increasing albumin level in other race and participants with smoking. Considering this association, hypoalbuminemia could provide a potential predictive biomarker for inflammation. Therefore, studying the relationship between albumin and CRP can provide a screening tool for inflammation to guide therapeutic intervention and avoid excessive correction of patients with inflammation.

To compare the efficacy, safety, and complications of transurethral 1470 nm diode laser vaporization and plasma kinetic enucleation of prostate (PKEP) in benign prostatic hyperplasia treatment. A retrospective matched-paired comparison of patients treated using transurethral 1470 nm diode laser vaporization (n = 40) or PKEP (n = 40) was conducted. Baseline characteristics, preoperative data, and postoperative outcomes at the 24-month follow-up of the patients were recorded. ⋯ Transurethral 1470 nm diode laser vaporization and PKEP are effective strategies in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. However, 1470 nm diode laser vaporization offers advantages over PKEP in terms of shortening operation time and reducing intraoperative bleeding. Nonetheless, further research with a larger number of patients and long-term follow-up is necessary to confirm and validate these findings.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread rapidly worldwide, leading to a pandemic. In China, Xiyanping injection (XYP) has been recommended as a drug for COVID-19 treatment in the Guideline on Diagnosis and Treatment of COVID-19 by the National Health Commission of the People Republic of China and National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Trial eighth Edition). However, the relevant mechanisms at the molecular-level need to be further elucidated. ⋯ Through effective network pharmacology analysis and molecular docking, this study suggests that XYP contains many effective compounds that may target COVID-19 related signaling pathways. Moreover, the in vitro experiment confirmed that XYP could inhibit the cytokine storm by regulating genes or proteins related to immune and inflammatory responses.

Sepsis, a common and life-threatening condition in critically ill patients, is a leading cause of death in intensive care units. Over the past few decades, there has been significant improvement in the understanding and management of sepsis. However, the mortality rate remains unacceptably high, posing a prominent challenge in modern medicine and a significant global disease burden. ⋯ The 28-day survival rate of the low PCT level group was 93.4% and that of the high PCT level group was 51.7% at the node of 2.85 ng/mL, and the difference between the 2 groups was statistically significant (χ2 = 63.437, P < .001). There was a negative correlation between PCT level and PLT level (r = -0.412, P < .001). Platelet combined with serum procalcitonin detection has high predictive value for judging the 28-day prognosis of sepsis, and it can be used as an index for evaluating the patient's condition and prognosis, and is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
