Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has ravaged the world since December 2019. Up to now, it is still prevalent around the world. Vaccines are an important means to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and reduce severe disease and mortality. ⋯ Among them, the advantages of COVID-19 messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) vaccine, such as better adaptability to variant strains and better immune response ability, have attracted great attention. However, different populations with different genders, ages, previous COVID-19 infection history, underlying diseases and treatments will show different antibody responses after mRNA vaccination, which will affect the protection of the vaccine. Based on this, this paper reviews the reports related severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus 2 mRNA vaccines, and summarizes the effectiveness of vaccines in different populations and different disease states and looked forward to the precise vaccination strategy of the vaccine in the future.

Comparison between pressure-controlled and manual ventilation during anesthetic induction in patients with expected difficult airway: A prospective randomized controlled trial.
Gastric insufflation can cause gastric regurgitation, which may be exacerbated in patients who are expected to have difficult airways. The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference in respiratory parameters and the frequency of gastric insufflation according to the ventilation mode during the anesthestic induction on patients who were predicted to have difficult facemask ventilation. ⋯ Pressure-controlled ventilation during facemask ventilation in patients who were expected to have difficult airways showed a lower gastric insufflation rate with low peak airway pressure compared to manual ventilation.

The effect of Baduanjin exercise on the physical and mental health of college students: A randomized controlled trial.
Around the world, college students physical and mental health is deteriorating. Finding practical ways to enhance college students health is crucial. One of the traditional Chinese Qigong exercises is Baduanjin, which is possibly one of the most efficient workout techniques out there. However, it is unknown how Baduanjin practice may affect college students health. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of Qigong Baduanjin on the physical and mental health of female college freshmen. ⋯ Compared with usual activities, Qigong Baduanjin exercise has advantages in improving female college students body shape (weight and body mass index), cardiovascular and respiratory lung function, flexibility, balance ability, muscle endurance and mental health.

Periodontitis is increasingly associated with heart failure, and the goal of this study was to develop and validate a prediction model based on machine learning algorithms for the risk of heart failure in middle-aged and elderly participants with periodontitis. We analyzed data from a total of 2876 participants with a history of periodontitis from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2009 to 2014, with a training set of 1980 subjects with periodontitis from the NHANES 2009 to 2012 and an external validation set of 896 subjects from the NHANES 2013 to 2014. The independent risk factors for heart failure were identified using univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis. ⋯ K-nearest neighbor model got the best prediction performance across all models. Out of 6 machine learning models, the K-nearest neighbor algorithm model performed the best. The prediction model offers early, individualized diagnosis and treatment plans and assists in identifying the risk of heart failure occurrence in middle-aged and elderly patients with periodontitis.

Heart failure (HF) is a clinical syndrome with various etiologies and presentations. The role of the inflammatory pathway in HF prognosis is not fully understood. We investigated the association between the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and HF complicated by right ventricular dysfunction (RVD) and whether the SII is related to compromised hemodynamic volume status. ⋯ A significant relationship was observed between indirect inflammation and RVD in patients with HFrEF. The hemodynamic volume status and functional capacity were impaired in patients with high SII scores. These results indicated that advanced HF with worse outcomes may be related to the inflammatory process.
