Lymphatic metastasis (LM) is a significant mechanism for the spread of esophageal cancer (EC) and predicts the poor prognosis of EC patients. This research aimed to assess the survival of patients with LM from EC by developing a nomogram. In this retrospective study, EC patients with LM from 2004 to 2015 in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database were divided by year of diagnosis into a training cohort and a validation cohort. ⋯ Based on the results of calibration plots and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, we demonstrate the great performance of the prognostic model. The survival time of EC patients with LM was remarkably lower than that of EC patients without LM. The nomogram model established in this study can precisely predict the survival of EC patients with LM.

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between fatalistic beliefs, self-care, and glycemic control among Mexican men with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This is a cross-sectional study in men diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus from 18 to 59 years of age from the Northeast of Mexico. Fatalistic beliefs, self-care, medication adherence, and HbA1C were evaluated. ⋯ In multiple linear regression models, fatalistic beliefs were a negative predictor of self-care and medication adherence. In the model for HbA1c, the pessimism subdimension and self-care were the predictors. Fatalistic beliefs negatively affect self-care compliance and medication adherence, while the pessimism subdimension was related to the increase in HbA1c.

Immunogenic cell death (ICD) is a unique phenomenon that can trigger comprehensive, adaptive immune responses through damage-associated molecular patterns, offering a promising avenue for tumor immunotherapy. However, the role of ICD-related genes and their correlation with endometrial carcinoma (EC), the most prevalent gynecologic malignancy, remains unclear. This study examined genetic, transcriptional, and clinical data of EC obtained from the Cancer Genome Atlas database. ⋯ Two ICD clusters were identified, indicating that the ICD-high cluster was associated with improved prognosis, abundant immune cell infiltration, and enrichment of pathways related to immunologic activation. Moreover, the ICD risk signature showed predictive value for the immune microenvironment, immunotherapy response, chemotherapy susceptibility, and prognosis in EC. Our findings offer novel insights into personalized treatment strategies for EC patients.

Efficacy of ranibizumab combined with photocoagulation for diabetic retinopathy: A meta-analysis study.
Ranibizumab addition may benefit to improve the efficacy in patients with diabetic retinopathy than only photocoagulation, and this meta-analysis aims to explore the impact of ranibizumab addition on efficacy for diabetic retinopathy. ⋯ Ranibizumab combined with photocoagulation is effective to improve efficacy for diabetic retinopathy.

The study aims to summarize topical and frontier issues in sepsis and exosomes and provide advice and resources for researchers working in related disciplines. Publications on exosomes in sepsis from 2004 to 2022 were extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection database. VOSviewer 1.6.18 and CiteSpace 6.1.3 were used to conduct the bibliometric analysis. ⋯ Singer m, 2016, Jama-j am med assoc was the most co-cited reference. "Mesenchymal stem cells derived exosomes," "microRNAs," "apoptosis," and "immunomodulatory therapy" are the current research hot spots and frontiers. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the current status and trends in sepsis and exosomal research. Researchers working in this area will benefit from the hot spots and trends of exosomes in sepsis discovered through this study.
