Recurrent malignant solitary fibrous tumor of pelvis: A case report and treatment approach.
Solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are rare mesenchymal neoplasms that typically arise from the pleura but can also occur in various locations throughout the body. Although there are increasingly more reports of extra-pleural SFTs, reports of SFTs in bone are very rare, and a malignant SFT accompanying recurrence of pelvis has not yet been reported. ⋯ Complete surgical excision is the recommended treatment for this rare disease entity, and the role of adjuvant therapies is controversial due to their rarity. Our case underscores the challenges in managing recurrent malignant SFTs and highlights the importance of a thorough diagnostic workup. Further research is needed to establish the role of adjuvant therapies in the management of these tumors.

Lymphatic metastasis (LM) is a significant mechanism for the spread of esophageal cancer (EC) and predicts the poor prognosis of EC patients. This research aimed to assess the survival of patients with LM from EC by developing a nomogram. In this retrospective study, EC patients with LM from 2004 to 2015 in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database were divided by year of diagnosis into a training cohort and a validation cohort. ⋯ Based on the results of calibration plots and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, we demonstrate the great performance of the prognostic model. The survival time of EC patients with LM was remarkably lower than that of EC patients without LM. The nomogram model established in this study can precisely predict the survival of EC patients with LM.

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between fatalistic beliefs, self-care, and glycemic control among Mexican men with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This is a cross-sectional study in men diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus from 18 to 59 years of age from the Northeast of Mexico. Fatalistic beliefs, self-care, medication adherence, and HbA1C were evaluated. ⋯ In multiple linear regression models, fatalistic beliefs were a negative predictor of self-care and medication adherence. In the model for HbA1c, the pessimism subdimension and self-care were the predictors. Fatalistic beliefs negatively affect self-care compliance and medication adherence, while the pessimism subdimension was related to the increase in HbA1c.

Immunogenic cell death (ICD) is a unique phenomenon that can trigger comprehensive, adaptive immune responses through damage-associated molecular patterns, offering a promising avenue for tumor immunotherapy. However, the role of ICD-related genes and their correlation with endometrial carcinoma (EC), the most prevalent gynecologic malignancy, remains unclear. This study examined genetic, transcriptional, and clinical data of EC obtained from the Cancer Genome Atlas database. ⋯ Two ICD clusters were identified, indicating that the ICD-high cluster was associated with improved prognosis, abundant immune cell infiltration, and enrichment of pathways related to immunologic activation. Moreover, the ICD risk signature showed predictive value for the immune microenvironment, immunotherapy response, chemotherapy susceptibility, and prognosis in EC. Our findings offer novel insights into personalized treatment strategies for EC patients.

This study aimed to investigate the research hotspots and global trends of acupuncture in the treatment of headaches from 1974 to 2022. The Web of Science core collection database and literature related to acupuncture for headache treatment were retrieved. The CiteSpace (version 5.1. ⋯ Research trends have mainly focused on acupuncture therapy and its curative effects, migraine without aura, paroxysmal migraine, and the mechanism of acupuncture treatment. The main research hotspots and frontier trends were the therapeutic effect and mechanism of acupuncture for headaches. The mechanism of acupuncture in the treatment of headache mainly focused on the neural mechanism by multimodal MRI.
