Primary prevention of hepatic encephalopathy post-TIPS: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) can be an effective treatment for cirrhotic patients who develop variceal bleeding and ascites. However, TIPS placement is associated with an increased risk of developing hepatic encephalopathy (HE). Recently, there have been efforts to use the typical medical therapies prophylactically in patients undergoing TIPS placement to prevent post-TIPS HE. ⋯ In conclusion, a vast majority of medications were not found to be effective post-TIPS HE prophylaxis when used alone. A rifaximin and lactulose combination therapy may be beneficial. Overall, there is significant limitation in the current data and more studies are needed to yield more robust meta-analysis results in the future.

Effects of remote ischemic preconditioning in severe traumatic brain injury: A single-center randomized controlled trial.
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a significant contributor to global mortality and impairment. Experimental data has shown the advantages of remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) in treating brain injury, however, there is a lack of evidence-based medicine regarding its clinical effectiveness and safety. ⋯ The results of this study suggest that RIPC has the potential to enhance clinical outcomes, mitigate nerve damage, and reduce both hospital expenses and length of stay in patients with severe TBI. The use of RIPC is a reliable and efficient method for managing severe TBI.

The efficacy of different segments fixation for treatment thoracolumbar fractures: A Bayesian network meta-analysis.
We did this network meta-analysis to comprehensively compare the efficacy of different segments [intermediate segment (IS), short segment (SS) and long segment (LS)] in the fixation of thoracolumbar fractures. ⋯ IS was associated with a significant reduction in SCA, implant failure rate, and visual analogue scale compared to SS and LS, while having the most favorable impact on AVHR among all the treatments assessed.

Recent studies have found that cardiomyocyte apoptosis is closely associated with the pathophysiological development of various cardiovascular diseases, for example chronic heart failure and myocardial infarction. At present, there are many researches in this field, such as pharmacological research, traditional Chinese medicine intervention research and pathway research. However, the relevant research is fragmented, with few comprehensive analysis and systematic combing. ⋯ Cardiomyocyte apoptosis is a hot research field in recent years. Through visualization and bibliometric analysis, it is found that this field focus on hotspots like clinical manifestations including heart failure or myocardial infarction, and microscopic mechanisms such as oxidative stress and inflammation.

Nursing measures in the fast-track surgery on negative emotions in breast cancer patients: A meta-analysis.
To critically evaluate the effects of different nursing measures based on the concept of fast-track surgery (FTS) on the negative emotions of patients with breast cancer. ⋯ Based on the concept of FTS, the nursing measures such as reducing preoperative fasting time, posture management, preventive analgesia, and early functional exercise can effectively reduce the anxiety and depression of patients during the perioperative period.
