Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) poses a global health challenge. Effective biomarkers are required for early diagnosis to improve survival rates of patients with HCC. Spindle and kinetochore-associated complex subunits 1 (SKA1) is essential for proper chromosome segregation in the mitotic cell cycle. ⋯ SKA1 expression levels significantly correlated with immune cell infiltration and immune checkpoint genes in the HCC tissues. SKA1 is a potential prognostic biomarker for HCC. This study provides a meaningful direction for research on SKA1-related mechanisms, which will be beneficial for future research on HCC-related molecular biological therapies and targeted immunotherapy.

To investigate the complications and in-stent restenosis of endovascular treatment of severe symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis and relevant risk factors. Three hundred and fifty-four consecutive patients with intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (70%-99%) were retrospectively enrolled. The clinical data, treatment outcomes, complications and in-stent restenosis at follow-up were analyzed. ⋯ Follow-up was performed in 287 (81.07%) patients at 6 to 36 (28 ± 6.7) months. In-stent restenosis was present in 36 (12.54%), and female sex (OR 2.53, and 95% CI 1.27-5.06) and periprocedural complications (OR 9.18, and 95% CI 3.52-23.96) were significant (P < .05) risk factors for in-stent restenosis, with periprocedural complication (OR 9.61, and 95% CI 3.48-27.23) as the only significant (P < .0001) independent risk factor for in-stent restenosis. A certain rate of periprocedural complications and in-stent stenosis may occur in endovascular treatment of severe intracranial stenosis, and the relevant risk factors may include hyperlipidemia, MCA location, angulation at the stenosis and female sex.

The long-term efficacy of treatment, heterogeneity, and complexity in the tumor microenvironment remained a clinical challenge in breast cancer (BRCA). There is a need to classify and refine appropriate therapeutic intervention decisions. A stable subtype classification based on gene expression associated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) prognosis and assessment on the clinical features, immune infiltration, and mutational characteristics of the different subcategories was performed using ConsensusClusterPlus. ⋯ Finally, by combining clinicopathological features with the NAC-related prognostic risk model, we enhanced the accuracy of survival prediction and model performance. Here, we revealed 3 new molecular subtypes based on prognosis-related genes for BRCA NAC and developed a prognostic risk model. It has the potential to aid in the selection of appropriate individualized treatment and the prediction of patient prognosis.

We aimed to investigate the characteristics and clinical outcomes of paracetamol poisoning and paracetamol overdose in Qatar. This retrospective cohort study included patients admitted to the emergency department (ED). We included patients who presented with excessive paracetamol ingestion, between December 2018 and September 2019. ⋯ A significantly higher number of patients in the toxicity group received N-acetylcysteine (NAC). More hypotension and rashes were observed among those who received NAC in the toxicity group. Patients presenting to the ED due to paracetamol toxicity are not uncommon, and most cases occur in young adults, and few in patients with a history of psychiatric illness, suggesting that preventive approaches are highly required.

This study was conducted to explore the influencing factors of gastrointestinal function recovery after cesarean section (CS), which could provide a reference for the enhanced recovery after surgery in obstetrics. This is a cross-sectional survey on Chinese mothers receiving CS. The participants's socio-demographic characteristics, perioperative diet, medical condition and gastrointestinal function after surgery were collected by a self-designed questionnaire. ⋯ The parity, type of CS, 2-hours bleeding after surgery, time of first meal after surgery, whether taking peppermint water after surgery were the independent influencing factors for gastrointestinal function recovery after CS. We should pay more attention to the mothers with scarred uterus, manage the labor process strictly, and reduce 2-hours bleeding after surgery. The mothers with CS should also be encouraged to eat early and take peppermint water to promote intestinal peristalsis actively.
