The aim of this study is to identify the main moderators in the relationship between antecedents/predictors (doctors, privacy, accessibility, and availability, perceived waiting time to be called back by the doctor after the examinations and/or tests) and the perceived quality of healthcare (PQHC) in the emergency department (ED). Patients admitted to the ED of a public hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, between January and December 2016 were included in this study, with a representative sample size of 382 patients. A 5% margin of error and a 95% confidence interval were used, and all data were collected between May and November 2017. ⋯ Moreover, privacy and perceived waiting time to be called back by the doctor after an examination and/or test are more likely to influence the PQHC among patients with lower levels of life satisfaction and happiness. Finally, accessibility and availability are more likely to influence the PQHC among patients with more frequent ED experiences. Thus, knowing the moderating effects of psychological factors and the frequency of ED experiences may help to better understand the relationship between PQHC and certain predictors.

Differences in patient characteristics between subconjunctival herniated orbital fat in the superotemporal quadrant and the other quadrants: An observational study.
Subconjunctival herniated orbital fat (SHOF) usually occurs in the superotemporal quadrant, and SHOF located in other quadrants is extremely rare. This study aimed to compare the patient characteristics between patients with SHOF in the superotemporal quadrant and those with SHOF in other quadrants. This is a retrospective study of 45 patients with SHOF who were referred to our institution between January 2015 and January 2023 and 14 previously reported patients in published case reports of SHOF that were not located in the superotemporal quadrant. ⋯ Based on a comparison of 44 patients with SHOF in the superotemporal quadrant and 15 patients with SHOF in the other quadrants, the latter entity predominantly occurred in young, non-obese females (P < .050). Unilateral cases were more common in SHOF in the other quadrants (P = .003). Patient characteristics were found to be different between cases of SHOF in the superotemporal quadrant and those with SHOF in the other quadrants.

This study examines the current status of and relationship between learning burnout, professional commitment, and psychological capital in undergraduate clinical medical students. A total of 249 undergraduate students were randomly selected from a 5-year clinical medical program at a medical university in Shandong, China. The study employed the Learning Burnout Scale, Professional Commitment Scale, Psychological Capital Scale to survey the sample, and performed structural equation modeling and multiple regression to test the proposed research model using SPSS 19.0. ⋯ Learning burnout showed significant negative correlations with professional commitment and psychological capital (r = -0.311, r = -0.291; P < .01). The psychological capital and professional commitment of undergraduate students of clinical medicine serve as predictors of learning burnout. Psychological capital partially mediates the relationship between professional commitment and learning burnout.

This study aims to investigate the difference of clinical characteristics and risk factors in aortic dissection (AD) of patients with 2 Stanford subtypes. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 908 patients admitted to Tongji Hospital from July 2019 to January 2021, and the aortic computed tomography angiography was used to clearly diagnose the artery dissection. Patient basic information as well as blood test indicators containing leukocytes, neutrophils, lymphocytes, hemoglobin, myoglobin, hypersensitive cardiac troponin, γ-glutamyl transferase, total cholesterol, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein, low density lipoprotein, ultrasensitive C-reactive protein, glucose were recorded and analyzed. ⋯ Additionally, type A patients had a significantly higher number of abnormal myoglobin, hypersensitive cardiac troponin and ultrasensitive C-reactive protein test results than type B patients (P < .05). The receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showed that the area under the curve for each parameter was 0.605 (0.538-0.673) for hemoglobin, 0.610 (0.543-0.677) for leukocytes and 0.627 (0.561-0.693) for neutrophils. Understanding the relevant clinical indicators and risk factors of patients with different types of AD can provide a new perspective to assist the classification and diagnosis of AD and a basis for effective and rational treatment.

This study aimed to ascertain the diagnostic accuracy of CA125, HE4, systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio (FAR), prognostic nutritional index (PNI), and their combination for ovarian cancer (OC) to discover an optimal combined diagnostic index for early diagnosis of OC. A thorough investigation was conducted to ascertain the correlation between these markers and the pathological characteristics of OC, thereby providing a foundation for early identification and treatment of this disorder. One hundred seventy patients with documented OC and benign ovarian tumors (BOTs) treated at Hebei General Hospital between January 2019 and December 2022 were included in this retrospective study. ⋯ This study suggests that preoperative serum SII, PNI, and FAR may be clinically valuable markers in patients with OC. FAR has better application value than other inflammation-related markers (PNI and SII). As we delve deeper into the inflammatory mechanisms associated with tumors, we may discover more effective combinations of tumor and inflammatory biomarkers.
