Possible challenges in dosing non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) and limited evidence in Saudi Arabia make it difficult to assess their appropriateness. This study aimed to assess the appropriateness of prescribing rivaroxaban and apixaban in hospitalized patients with newly diagnosed NVAF. This single-center, descriptive, retrospective study was conducted at a tertiary hospital in Saudi Arabia between December 2018 and December 2019. ⋯ There was a significant negative correlation between the drugs underdosing and creatinine clearance, r = -0.223, P = .001. The findings in our present study showed that majority of the patients received appropriate dosing of rivaroxaban and apixaban in hospitalized patients with NVAF. Healthcare providers should update themselves with the recent dosing recommendations for the non-vitamin K-antagonist oral anticoagulants in NVAF to further improve the dosing appropriateness in hospitalized patients with NVAF.

In the present study, we analyzed the detection rate and related influencing factors of fatty liver in the health examination population in Chengdu area. ⋯ The health screening of patients with fatty liver should be carried out regularly, and attention should be paid to the intervention and prevention of overweight people and people with basal metabolism diseases such as hyperglycemia and hypertension, so as to reduce the incidence of fatty liver.

We predicted that marital status may have predictive effects on young adult patients with cancer. A total of 37,028 young adult patients (20-39 years old) newly diagnosed with lymphoma by positive histology between 1988 and 2015 were collected from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database. Patients were separated into married and unmarried groups. ⋯ Moreover, married patients reported enhanced 10-year overall survival in the original group and the matched cohort. The multivariable Cox regression analysis revealed a vital advantageous influence of married status on overall mortality, with an adjusted hazard ratio (HR) of 0.54 (95% CI, 0.51-0.57, P < .001) and the association remained robust after propensity score matching (HR, 0.53, 95% CI 0.51-0.55, P < .001) and inverse probability of treatment weighting (HR, 0.53, 95% CI 0.51-0.56, P < .001) after adjusting for confounding factors. Marital status had predictive significance for overall survival in young adult patients with lymphoma.

Methylprednisolone (MP) and dexamethasone (DXM) are commonly prescribed hormone drugs for treating coronavirus pandemic disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients, but conflicting results from previous studies and meta-analyses on their efficacy and safety necessitate further investigation. Therefore, in this study, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials to enhance the level of evidence and compare the efficacy and safety of MP and DXM in COVID-19 patients. ⋯ The results of this meta-analysis showed that there was no difference in mortality, ICU admission rate, hospital stay, mechanical ventilation, or adverse events between MP and DXM in the treatment of COVID-19. The incidence of hyperglycemia with methylprednisolone was higher than that with dexamethasone.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
A randomized controlled trial involving college student: Comparing 0.15% hyaluronic acid with 0.05% cyclosporine A and 3% diquafosol sodium in the Treatment of Dry Eye.
To compare the efficacy of 0.15% hyaluronic acid (HA), 0.05% cyclosporine A (CsA) and 3% diquafosol sodium (DQS) ophthalmic solution for the treatment of moderate-to-severe dry eye disease (DED) in college students and the effect on inflammatory factors in tears. ⋯ College students taking 0.15% HA had clinically and statistically significant improvement in corneal staining score and other indicators, but it was inferior to 0.05% CsA in anti-inflammatory therapy for moderate to severe DED. However, 0.15% HA is still an effective, safe and well-tolerated treatment option that may offer additional benefits in terms of convenience and compliance.
