Review Case Reports
Bilateral chylothorax following papillary thyroid carcinoma with cervical lymph node dissection: Case report and comprehensive review of the literature.
This case analysis and literature review aim to identify the causes of bilateral chylothorax following thyroid cancer surgery, a rare yet serious complication. ⋯ For patients with bilateral chylothorax, conservative treatment should be the initial approach for small effusions. For moderate to large effusions, placement of a chest drainage tube is recommended, and surgical intervention should be considered if chyle volume exceeds 10 mL/(kg/d) for 48 to 72 hours or persists for more than 11 days following conservative treatment.

The effect of ertugliflozin in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus: A randomized controlled trial.
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a chronic liver disease associated with liver inflammation, fibrosis, and cirrhosis and is associated with a greater risk of hepatocarcinoma. Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a persistent and progressive form of NAFLD. Recent evidence suggested that ertugliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor (SGLT2), suppresses NAFLD development in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The objective of this study was to determine the impact of ertugliflozin on improving NAFLD in patients with T2DM and the function of liver enzymes. ⋯ The present study revealed that the concomitant use of ertugliflozin has favorable effects on liver enzymes, as it decreases liver fat intake and reduces complications in patients with NAFLD-associated T2DM. However, more in-depth studies will be required to observe every aspect of ertugliflozin.

V-V ECMO for severe Chlamydia psittaci pneumonia presenting with sudden cardiac arrest: A case report and literature review.
Psittacosis, also known as parrot fever, is an infectious disease caused by Chlamydia psittaci, which can lead to C psittaci pneumonia. Clinical manifestations are highly nonspecific, which can vary from asymptomatic infection to severe pneumonia and even death. ⋯ This case prompts that metagenomic next-generation sequencing is a feasible diagnostic tool for psittacosis, which can rapidly worsen and even cause sudden cardiac arrest. V-V ECMO might be a viable emergency therapeutic option.

This study aims to analyze and evaluate the correlation between migraines and the onset of stroke, and further explore whether migraines increase the risk of stroke. ⋯ The results of the meta-analysis indicate that there is a certain relationship between migraine and the onset of stroke, and the results are relatively reliable. The analysis of migraine with aura shows that both the presence and absence of aura are associated with an increased risk of stroke. Subgroup analysis based on gender and age shows that the increased risk of stroke is associated with females and young individuals. However, due to the limited data in subgroup analysis, the above conclusions still require further research for validation.

Osteosarcopenia is frequent, and the relative risk of fracture is higher among patients with sarcopenia. It is a strong predictor of poor outcomes in older adults undergoing cancer treatment, suggesting that osteosarcopenia is important in an aging society. This study aimed to evaluate the overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) of patients with cancer with and without osteosarcopenia. ⋯ These meta-analysis results suggest that osteopenia and osteosarcopenia are associated with worse DFS among patients with cancer. The use of different case definitions appeared to be a major source of heterogeneity among studies. Further studies are warranted to confirm our findings, especially those regarding OS and DFS.
