Gout is an inflammatory arthritis resulting from urate crystal deposition, now recognized as part of metabolic syndrome. Hyperuricemia, a hallmark of gout, is associated with various health complications, including liver cancer. Observational studies indicate a link between gout and increased cancer incidence. ⋯ The results indicate that gout increases the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma, with PEMT potentially playing a key role. Although this study focused on European populations, indicating a need for further research in diverse groups, the results emphasize the potential for liver cancer screening in newly diagnosed gout patients. Understanding the relationship between these conditions may inform future clinical practices and cancer prevention strategies.

To investigate the value of lung ultrasound in the differential diagnosis of common neonatal lung diseases. A total of 160 newborns with suspected lung diseases admitted to the Department of Neonatology of Linping Branch of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University from January 2020 to June 2023, were selected for examination. Perform lung ultrasound within 24 hours of admission for above newborns, using the final clinical diagnosis as standard. ⋯ The detection rate of lung ultrasound examination for lung disease in newborns was 85.00%, with a sensitivity of 95.77%, specificity of 77.77%, positive predictive value of 97.14% and negative predictive value of 70.0%. The consistency test kappa value between lung ultrasound findings and the final clinical diagnosis of neonatal lung diseases is 0.846. Lung ultrasound holds significant value in the differential diagnosis of common lung diseases in newborns.

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a form of diabetes caused by pancreatic β-cell destruction and absolute insulin deficiency. Lichen planus (LP) is an idiopathic inflammatory skin disease of unclear etiology. The role of SIRPG gene dysregulation in T1D and LP remains unclear. ⋯ There is a positive causal relationship between T1D and LP. Comparative toxicogenomics database analysis revealed associations of core genes with metabolic syndrome, lipid metabolism disorders, cardiovascular diseases, immune system diseases, peripheral neuropathic pain, and inflammation. SIRPG is highly expressed in both T1D and LP, providing a new insight into the pathogenesis of T1D and LP.

Surface ablation laser surgery has resurged in popularity recently because of its safety in correcting myopia and favorable postoperative corneal biomechanical properties. This study aimed to investigate the current focal points and future trends in surface ablation laser surgery over the last 2 decades. The Web of Science Core Collection was used as the primary data source to retrieve literature related to surface ablation laser surgery. ⋯ The keywords were grouped into the following 5 clusters: clinical effects and complications, special indications, iatrogenic corneal ectasia, haze, and pain management. High-frequency keywords in recent years included transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy, retreatment, transepithelial phototherapeutic keratectomy, and biomechanical properties. This bibliometric analysis examined the development trends, global cooperation, research hotspots, and future directions of surface ablation over the past 20 years.
