A quasi-experimental study was conducted to investigate the clinical efficacy and outcomes of calcitriol combined with bisphosphonates in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis (OP). ⋯ Calcitriol combined with bisphosphonates has a significant clinical effect in the treatment of postmenopausal OP, which can significantly relieve bone pain in postmenopausal OP patients, enhance abnormal bone metabolism and immune function, and promote bone mineral density and daily living ability.

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a form of diabetes caused by pancreatic β-cell destruction and absolute insulin deficiency. Lichen planus (LP) is an idiopathic inflammatory skin disease of unclear etiology. The role of SIRPG gene dysregulation in T1D and LP remains unclear. ⋯ There is a positive causal relationship between T1D and LP. Comparative toxicogenomics database analysis revealed associations of core genes with metabolic syndrome, lipid metabolism disorders, cardiovascular diseases, immune system diseases, peripheral neuropathic pain, and inflammation. SIRPG is highly expressed in both T1D and LP, providing a new insight into the pathogenesis of T1D and LP.

Prepatellar bursa mucosa: An unreported postoperative complication of patellar fracture.
Patellar fracture is a common injury caused by overstrain of the extensor mechanism or a direct trauma to the knee. The most common complications after patellar fracture are nonunion, infection, post-traumatic arthritis, joint fibrosis, symptomatic hardware, and extensor mechanism failure. These are attributed to the post-fracture flexion and extension movements, the primary damage to the articular cartilage, and the thin soft tissue coverage over the knee. To our knowledge, prepatellar bursa mucosa is an unreported postoperative complication of patellar fracture. ⋯ This case highlights the need for appropriate placement of the intraoperative implant in adults with patellar fractures.

Effect of mental state on sleep quality in patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis: A multiple mediation model of hope and family function.
The objective of this study was to investigate the current situation of sleep quality in patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis (MHD), and whether hope and family function play a mediating role between negative emotions and sleep quality. The Athens Insomnia Scale, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Herth Hope Index and Family Adaptation, Partnership, Growth, Affection and Resolve (APGAR) Index were used to investigate 227 MHD patients. The correlations among study variables were analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis. ⋯ The negative emotions can directly predict sleep quality (β = 0.17, P = .046), positively predict sleep quality through hope (β = 0.12, P = .017), positively predict sleep quality through family function (β = 0.20, P < .001), and positively predict sleep quality through the chain mediating of hope and family function (β = 0.10, P < .001). The total effect size was 71.19%. It is concluded that negative emotions had a direct impact on the sleep quality of patients receiving MHD, and that improving the levels of family function and hope can help them sleep better.

Impact of remimazolam on postoperative inflammatory markers and complications in thoracoscopic pulmonary lobectomy patients: A retrospective analysis.
Remazolam is widely used for procedural sedation in intensive care units. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and organ-protecting properties. However, the changes in inflammatory markers and analgesic effects of remazolam after thoracoscopic pulmonary lobectomy remain unclear. ⋯ However, due to potential confounding factors and the retrospective design, we cannot establish a causal relationship between remimazolam and elevated inflammatory markers. These findings suggest a possible association that requires cautious interpretation. Further research is needed to assess the clinical relevance and explore the underlying mechanisms.
