Cholecystectomy generally has no adverse effects on health. Studies demonstrating the association between metabolic diseases and long-term effects of cholecystectomy are increasing. preperitoneal fat thickness (PFT) is an important indicator of metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is a risk factor for sarcopenia. ⋯ PFT values of 10.0 mm or higher were associated with 5.875 times (95% CI: 2.035-16.961, P = .001) increased odds of sarcopenia. Sarcopenia was 2.8 times more frequent in patients who had undergone cholecystectomy than in those who had not, but this relationship was mediated by increased PFT. The risk of sarcopenia increased up to 5.875 times when the PFT exceeded 10 mm.

The impact of early cranioplasty on neurological function, stress response, and cognitive function in traumatic brain injury.
To analyze the efficacy of early cranioplasty in patients with traumatic brain injury and its impact on neurological function, stress response, and cognitive function. A total of 90 patients with traumatic brain injury admitted to the hospital from January 2021 to March 2024 were included in the study. The patients were divided into an observation group (45 cases) and a control group (45 cases) based on the timing of their cranioplasty. ⋯ The total incidence of postoperative complications was significantly lower in the observation group (8.70% vs 26.09%, P < .05). Early cranioplasty is beneficial for the postoperative recovery of patients with traumatic brain injury. It improves neurological function, enhances cognitive function, and reduces stress response, while also significantly lowering the incidence of postoperative complications.

This study will evaluate the therapeutic effect of pin distractor assisted reduction of fibular fracture on ankle fracture. A retrospective analysis was performed on 98 patients diagnosed as ankle fracture or pilon fracture. These patients were all combined with fibular fracture. ⋯ In addition, for patients with long spiral fracture, comminuted fracture, osteoporotic fracture and preoperative delay time for operation more than 2 weeks, the time spent in the reduction and fixation of fracture, the operative blood loss of fracture operation, the incidence of fracture end splitting during reduction, the quality of anatomical reduction of fracture, and the healing time of fracture in the experimental group are also better than those in the control group. The pin distractor assisted reduction of fibular fracture has the advantages of simple operation, less trauma, short operation time, less operative blood loss, and fewer complications. It is especially suitable for patients with long spiral fibular fracture, comminuted fracture, osteoporotic fracture, and long preoperative delay time in ankle fracture.

Previous research on physical activity (PA) has mostly concentrated on a single or small number of activities, with scant coverage of the effects of PA on hypertension (HTN) and all-cause mortality. Most studies examining HTN in the elderly have been too small or shown contradictory findings. We conducted a cross-sectional study using 10 cycles of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data from 1999 to 2018. ⋯ The present study underscores the significant benefits of PA in patients aged 65 years and older with HTN. Notably, it was found to reduce systolic blood pressure and have a positive impact on the decrease of all-cause and hypertensive mortality. These findings highlight the crucial role of PA in the health and longevity of aged patients with HTN.

This study aims to investigate the factors affecting the stone-free rate (SFR) of flexible ureteroscopy and laser lithotripsy (fURSL) for renal stones and establish predictive models by identifying their prognostic factors. We retrospectively examined 252 patients with renal stones who were treated with fURSL between July 2020 and April 2022. We analyzed the relationship between the patient's clinical data (sex, age, and body mass index), stone status (side, size, location, stone/transverse process pixel ratio [STPR], and the CT value of stone [SCTV]), and SFR to determine the relevant factors and analyze their influence. ⋯ After 1000 resamples and internal self-validation, the C-indices of models 1 and 2 were 0.924 and 0.895, respectively, showing that the stone clearance predicted by the nomogram matched the actual situation. Stone location, size, and density (SCTV and STPR) were significant predictors of SFR after fURSL. The scoring system based on these factors may be used to guide optimal treatment strategy selection.
