Accidents involving chlorinated compounds in the context of cleaning are not uncommon. However, improving the treatment success rate for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) patients caused by chlorine gas presents significant challenges. ⋯ ASPP combined with high-flow nasal oxygen therapy can improve patients' hypoxemia, prevent the need for intubation, avoid rapid deterioration of the condition, reduce treatment complexity, and lower mortality rate.

In patients with bilateral highly dislocated hips (HDHs), total hip arthroplasty with subtrochanteric shortening osteotomy (S-THA) is a viable option for achieving adequate reconstruction with restoration of the anatomical hip center. This procedure has the potential to improve sagittal spinopelvic alignment (SSPA). However, reports are scarce owing to the rarity of this disease. ⋯ The correlation coefficients between preoperative LL and SS and postoperative LL and PI were 0.81 and 0.38, respectively (P < .01). The preoperative SSPA of Crowe type IV HDHs revealed excessive pelvic anteversion and lumbar hyperlordosis, with a high correlation between LL and SS, suggesting that these alterations were compensatory changes to maintain body balance. Furthermore, in patients with HDHs and residual spinal flexibility, restoring the original pelvic morphology with S-THA may contribute to improved SSPA.

Role of microRNAs deregulation in initiation of rheumatoid arthritis: A retrospective observational study.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a joint disorder and is considered an important public health concern nowadays. So, identifying novel biomarkers and treatment modalities is urgently needed to improve the health standard of RA patients. Factors involved in RA pathogenesis are genetic/epigenetic modification, environment, and lifestyle. ⋯ Significantly raised level of HDAC (P < .0001) and 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (P < .0001) was observed in patients versus controls. A good diagnostic potential of selected microRNAs in RA was shown by the receiver operating curve analysis. The current study showed a significant role of deregulated expression of the above-mentioned microRNAs in RA initiation and can act as an excellent diagnostic marker for this disease.

Melanocytic nevus occurring in the external auditory canal (EAC) is uncommon. Therefore, in the absence of sufficient clinical experience, this disease may be challenging to be suspected even with a physical examination. Herein, clinical and demographic features of intradermal nevus in the EAC were investigated. ⋯ In women, a dome-shaped or papillomatous mass with dark color in the EAC may likely be predicted as the nevus. However, it can also occur in men, and even if it is a pale color, in the case of a dome shape, taking the nevus into account is important. Moreover, successful treatment outcomes were achieved through circumferential excision.

To estimate the safety and effectiveness of endoscopic nasal dacryocystorhinostomy in the remedy of chronic dacryocystitis. The clinical data of 105 subjects with chronic dacryocystitis enrolled into our hospital were analyzed retrospectively. The subjects were distinguished into nasal endoscopic group (endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy; i.e., 51 cases) according to their surgical methods and external-route group (external-route dacryocystorhinostomy; i.e., 54 cases). ⋯ Six months postoperation, a reduction in the degree of epiphora was observed in both groups, with the nasal endoscopic group displaying a more pronounced decrease in epiphora severity and a higher lacrimal passage patency rate than the external-route group. Furthermore, the nasal endoscopic group experienced lower incidences of postoperative complications and recurrence rates. Endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy is safe and effective in the remedy of chronic dacryocystitis.
