Granulomatosis with polyangiitis presenting headache: A case report and review of literature.
Central nervous system involvement is a rare manifestation of active-phaselocalized Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA). In hypertrophic dura meningitis, GPA with headache is typical. In this case, cerebral magnetic resonance (MR) enhancement revealed no meningeal thickening, to our knowledge, this manifestation had not been found previously. ⋯ GPA and severe headache are more prevalent in hypertrophic dura meningitis, but the patient early headache could not be explained by hypertrophic dura meningitis or localized granulomatous lesions that invaded the central nervous system. Patients with severe headaches likely have vascular inflammation and local bone destruction at the base of the skull.

Abnormal bleeding after lumbar vertebrae surgery because of acquired factor XIII deficiency: A case report and literature review.
Abnormal bleeding due to low fibrinogen (Fib) and coagulation factor XIII (FXIII) levels after lumbar vertebral surgery is exceedingly rare. Excessive bleeding is also associated with secondary hyperfibrinolysis. This report presents a case of abnormal incision bleeding caused by coagulation factor XIII deficiency (FXIIID) and secondary hyperfibrinolysis in a state of low fibrinogen after lumbar vertebral surgery. ⋯ Abnormal postoperative bleeding may indicate coagulation and fibrinolysis disorders that require a full set of coagulation tests, particularly coagulation factors. Given the current lack of a comprehensive approach to detect coagulation and fibrinolysis functions, a more comprehensive understanding of hematology is imperative. The current treatment for FXIIID involves replacement therapy, which requires supplementation with both Fib and FXIII to achieve effective hemostasis.

A de novo variant in ZBTB18 gene caused autosomal dominant non-syndromic intellectual disability 22 syndrome: A case report and literature review.
Autosomal dominant non-syndromic intellectual disability 22 is a rare genetic disorder caused by the ZBTB18 gene. This disorder affects various parts of the body, leading to intellectual disability. It is noteworthy that only 31 cases of this disorder have been reported thus far. As the symptom severity may differ, doctors may face challenges in diagnosing it accurately. It is crucial to be familiar with this disorder's symptoms to receive proper diagnosis and essential medical care. ⋯ The clinical presentations of mental retardation, autosomal dominant, type 22 (MRD22) are complicated and varied. Although early diagnosis can be made according to typical clinical symptoms, whole exome sequencing is necessary for diagnosing MRD22, as our study indicates.

Cancer patients with COVID-19 have a higher infection rate and mortality rate than non-cancer patients. However, there are few studies on the correlation between the serum C-reactive protein (CRP) and cancer patients with COVID-19. This study aims to investigate the association between serum CRP and the incidence of COVID-19 pneumonia in cancer patients at the end of 2022 in China. ⋯ In the multivariate logistic regression model and smooth curve fitting, we found a correlation between CRP and COVID-19 pneumonia. The serum CRP was associated with the incidence of Omicron variant COVID- 19 pneumonia in cancer patients. Hence, cancer patients with high CRP level maybe need for timely computer tomography examination and more aggressive treatment.

Immunological studies on acupuncture and moxibustion treatment of rheumatoid arthritis: A review.
From the 4 perspectives of T lymphocytes, various cytokines, adenosine and "neuro-endocrine-immune" network, the researches related to the immune mechanism of acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in recent years were summarized, and different acupuncture and moxibustion treatments were analyzed. The method has a regulatory effect on the mechanism of RA, in order to provide a reference and basis for acupuncture research on the immune mechanism of RA, and promote the further development of research in this field.
