Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a prevalent autoimmune disorder with a significant global economic burden. Epigenetic modifications, particularly DNA methylation, play a crucial role in RA. This study conducted a bibliometric analysis to explore the evolving trends and predominant themes in RA and DNA methylation research over the past two decades. ⋯ The significance of DNA methylation in shaping research directions for RA management is increasingly evident. Recent investigations have shed light on the pivotal role of DNA methylation in RA, particularly in characterizing synovial tissue and exploring the underlying mechanisms of disease pathogenesis. This study provides valuable insights into the landscape of DNA methylation research in RA and highlights the importance of epigenetics in autoimmune diseases.

The severity of severe pneumonia in children depends on the degree of local inflammation, spread of lung inflammation and systemic inflammatory response. Appropriate care can effectively reduce the mortality of children with severe pneumonia. This study was designed to explore the nursing effect of targeted sedation nursing and comprehensive nursing intervention in children with severe pneumonia. ⋯ The accidental extubation, delirium, respiratory depression, and laryngospasm of the 2 groups of children were significantly improved, and the observation group was significantly less than the control group. This difference was statistically significant (P < .05). Targeted sedation nursing and comprehensive nursing intervention can effectively reduce the incidence of adverse reactions in children with severe pneumonia, reduce the pain and discomfort of children with severe pneumonia, and significantly improve the degree of sedation, which has certain reference value for the care of children with severe pneumonia.

Atherosclerosis (AS) is closely related to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which promotes and exacerbates the development of AS. However, it is uncertain how the precise underlying mechanism occurs. Here, we attempted to further explore the association underlying atherosclerosis and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease through integrated bioinformatics analysis. ⋯ Consequently, MMP9 may work together through immunity and inflammation to treat AS and NAFLD and may be a potential therapeutic target in the future. The findings of this study provide new insights into the shared association between AS and NAFLD. MMP9 is co-expressed up-regulated in AS and NAFLD, which be able to reveal the presence of co-expressed genes in atherosclerosis and NAFLD.

Cholangiocarcinoma occurs when there is a malignant tumor in the bile duct system. Renal cancer originates from renal tubular epithelial cells. Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a permanently localized dilation caused by a lesion or injury to abdominal aortic wall. ⋯ Common core genes (ADH6, AGXT, CYP3A43, TYROBP) were identified for cholangiocarcinoma, renal cell carcinoma, and AAA. ADH6 and TYROBP were associated with cholangiocarcinoma, AAA, renal tumors, kidney diseases, atherosclerosis, and inflammation. TYROBP is abnormally expressed in cholangiocarcinoma, renal cancer and abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Successful monitoring of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) remains a challenging problem after gynecological laparoscopy. Thus, this study aimed to create and validate predictive models for DVT with the help of machine learning (ML) algorithms. A total of 489 patients from the Cancer Biology Research Center, Tongji Hospital were included in the study between January 2017 and February 2023, and 35 clinical indicators from electronic health records (EHRs) were collected within 24h of patient admission. ⋯ The AUC values of the other two prediction models (ANNM and GLRM) range from 0.697 (95% CI: 0.639-0.755) and 0.813 (95% CI: 0.651-0.767). In summary, we explored the potential risk of DVT after gynecological laparoscopy, which helps clinicians identify high-risk patients before gynecological laparoscopy and make nursing interventions. However, external validation will be needed in the future.
