To investigate the association of systemic inflammation index (SII) with psoriasis risk and psoriasis severity. This is a retrospective cohort study based on data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey database from 2009 to 2014. The psoriasis information was obtained from the questionnaire data, and the SII was calculated as neutrophil × platelet/lymphocyte. ⋯ Unexpectedly, SII had no significance in predicting SII severity (P > .05). SII can independently predict psoriasis risk but has no impact on psoriasis severity. Further, SII serves as a potential and robust biomarker for identifying high-risk psoriasis individuals.

Peptidyl (protein) arginine deiminases (PADs) provide the transformation of peptidyl arginine to peptidyl citrulline in the presence of calcium with posttranslational modification. The dysregulated PAD activity plays an important role on too many diseases including also the cancer. In this study, it has been aimed to determine the potential cytotoxic and apoptotic activity of chlorine-amidine (Cl-amidine) which is a PAD inhibitor and whose effectiveness has been shown in vitro and in vivo studies recently on human glioblastoma cell line Uppsala 87 malignant glioma (U-87 MG) forming an in vitro model for the glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) which is the most aggressive and has the highest mortality among the brain tumors. ⋯ The findings of this study have shown that Cl-amidine exhibits significant potential as an anticancer agent in the treatment of GBM. This conclusion is based on its noteworthy antiproliferative and apoptotic effects observed in U-87 MG cells, as well as its reduced cytotoxicity toward healthy cells in comparison to existing treatments. We propose that the antineoplastic properties of Cl-amidine should be further investigated through a broader spectrum of cancer cell types. Moreover, we believe that investigating the synergistic interactions of Cl-amidine with single or combination therapies holds promise for the discovery of novel anticancer agents.

Primary healthcare institutions face limitations in medical resources, leading to concerns from patients and their families regarding the quality of medical services, resulting in complaints against these institutions. This study aims to analyze the causes of complaints and implement improvement measures to enhance the service quality of primary healthcare institutions, increase satisfaction among patients and their families, and reduce the number of complaints. Relevant data were collected, and verified complaints were categorized based on departments, administrative office, and category. ⋯ Univariate logistic regression analysis demonstrated a significant correlation between satisfaction and other related complaints in administrative office (OR = 3.321, 95% CI = 1.196-9.218, P = .021). Complaints related to departments and administrative offices are significantly correlated with satisfaction. After the implementation of a complaint management system in primary healthcare institutions, there is a notable improvement in service quality, enhanced patient experience, increased satisfaction, and a reduction in hospital complaints.

Leucine rich repeat LGI family member 3 (LGI3) is a member of the LGI protein family. Previous studies of our group have reported that LGI3 is expressed in adipose tissue, skin and brain, and serves as a multifunctional cytokine. LGI3 may also be involved in cytokine networks in various cancers. ⋯ Analysis of favorable or unfavorable prognostic gene products in PAC showed that 93 LGI3-regulated genes were differentially associated with PAC prognosis. LGI3 expression was correlated with the tumor-infiltration levels of various immune cells. Taken together, these results suggested that LGI3 may be a potential prognostic marker of PAC.

Metabolic reprogramming of energy is a newly recognized characteristic of cancer. In our current investigation, we examined the possible predictive importance of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) associated to fatty acid metabolism in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). We conducted an analysis of the gene expression data obtained from patients diagnosed with ccRCC using the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database and the ArrayExpress database. ⋯ Ultimately, we have established a network of competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) that is related to fatty acid metabolism. The findings of our study suggest that medicines focused on fatty acid metabolism could be clinically significant for individuals with ccRCC. The utilization of this risk model, which is centered around the lncRNAs associated with fatty acid metabolism, could potentially provide valuable prognostic information and hold immunotherapeutic implications for patients with ccRCC.
