Evidence regarding the use of Korean medicine (KM) for the conservative treatment of meniscus tears remains lacking. We aimed to evaluate clinical effectiveness and long-term follow-up outcomes in patients undergoing integrative KM treatment for meniscus tears. We analyzed the electronic medical records (EMRs) of 86 patients with meniscus tears and administered a follow-up survey. ⋯ The WOMAC decreased by an average of 15.52 (95% CI: 10.14-20.89) during hospital stay and 30.72 (95% CI: 24.58-36.87) at follow-up. The EQ-5D score increased by an average of 0.06 (95% CI: -0.14 to 0.02) at discharge and 0.19 (95% CI: -0.29 to -0.09) at follow up. KM treatment effectively reduced knee pain, improved knee joint function, and enhanced the quality of life in patients with a meniscus tear for a relatively long period after treatment.

This study aimed to explore the potential application value of acupuncture in alleviating the impact of long COVID on women's menstrual cycles, by investigating the occurrence of long COVID among female college students, its effects on menstruation, and the intervention of acupuncture. This cross-sectional study surveyed female college students with a history of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) before April 10, 2023. A questionnaire was used to analyze demographic characteristics, post-COVID sequelaes, duration of symptoms, and treatments received during that period. ⋯ Additionally, 17 individuals opted for acupuncture treatment following the onset of COVID-19 (20.00%), which resulted in less impact on their menstrual cycle (41.18% vs 64.71% without receiving acupuncture, OR = 2.62), menstrual period duration (41.18% vs 64.71%, OR = 2.62), menstrual flow (47.06% vs 69.18%, OR = 2.52), and the color of menstrual blood (41.18% vs 63.24%, OR = 2.46) among these patients. Long COVID had a certain impact on menstruation. Acupuncture potentially alleviates the clinical symptoms of long COVID and reduces its impact on women's menstrual cycle, thus having potential therapeutic value in the treatment of long COVID.

Total arch replacement via single upper hemisternotomy approach for aortic aneurysm in syphilis: Case report.
Syphilitic aortic aneurysm is a relatively rare type of cardiovascular syphilis. A small number of patients with syphilitic aortic aneurysms will be accompanied by aortic regurgitation and coronary stenosis. Apart from aortic rupture or dissection, syphilitic aortic aneurysm often causes associated vascular disorders, including left common carotid artery, innominate artery, and celiac artery stenosis or obstruction. ⋯ The upper hemisternotomy has the advantages of faster postoperative recovery, shorter ventilation time, shorter intensive care unit stay, less blood transfusion, and less incisional pain compared with the full sternotomy, which is one of the reasons why we chose this procedure for this patient.

Cellular blue nevus is an uncommon neoplasm in the spine. ⋯ Invasive cellular blue nevus of the spine can be wrongly diagnosed as spinal meningeal melanocytoma and meningeal melanoma due to its special cell behavior and rarity. Therefore, it is important to understand its pathological and clinical characteristics to avoid over-treatment.

The growing body of evidence suggests that breast cancer (BC) who achieve pathological complete response (pCR) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) may experience a more favorable prognosis. The objective of this study is to investigate the correlation between clinicopathologic parameters of locally advanced breast cancer (LABC) patients and the outcomes of NAC, with the aim of identifying predictive indicators for pCR. Additionally, we seek to examine the conversion of IHC markers in pCR patients following NAC and its impact on the prognosis of BC patients. ⋯ Patients with Ki67 expression change after NAC had longer overall survival (OS) and DFS than unchanged patients (all P < .05). HER2-positive is an independent indicator for predicting pCR, and HE2-positive patients who received NAC combined targeted therapy were favorable to achieving pCR. IHC markers of BC patients exhibit varying degrees of alterations after NAC, and changes in Ki67 expression after NAC could serve as a marker to predict a better prognosis.
