Intratumoral hypoxia is widely associated with the development of malignancy, treatment resistance, and worse prognoses. This study aims to investigate the role of hypoxia-related genes (HRG) in the immune landscape, treatment response, and prognosis of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). The transcriptome and clinical data of HNSCC were downloaded from TCGA and GEO databases, and HNSCC molecular subtypes were identified using non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) clustering. ⋯ Finally, a nomogram based on this model and radiotherapy was constructed, which showed good performance in predicting HNSCC prognosis and guiding personalized treatment strategies. The decision curve analysis demonstrated its better clinical applicability compared to other strategies. HRGs can identify 2 HNSCC molecular subtypes with significant heterogeneity, and the HRG-derived risk model has the potential for prognostic prediction and guiding personalized treatment strategies.

This study aims to analyze the prognostic significance of angiographic microvascular resistance (AMR) derived from functional coronary angiography in diagnosing coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) among patients with chronic coronary syndrome (CCS), particularly focusing on the prognostic significance of CMD in smokers. Additionally, this study assesses the prognostic significance of the diagnostic accuracy of the AMR index for CMD in CCS patients within the smoking population. Seventy-five CCS patients were studied for IMR measurement between June 2018 and December 2020, classified into CMD and non-CMD groups. ⋯ AMR in patients with CCS was significantly correlated with IMR and demonstrated good diagnostic accuracy. AMR ≥ 2.6 mm Hg*s/cm was associated with an increased risk of MACE occurrence and served as a valuable prognostic factor. In patients with CCS, AMR has a high diagnostic performance, In patients with CCS who smoke, impaired coronary microvascular function as assessed by AMR is significant and is an independent predictor of MACE.

Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma (ATR) and Nardostahyos Radix et Rhizoma (NRR) are well-known traditional Chinese medicines that have been extensively used for the treatment of epilepsy (EP). However, the precise molecular mechanism of ATR-NRR action remains unclear because of their intricate ingredients. This study aimed to investigate the underlying mechanism of ATR-NRR in EP treatment using network pharmacology and molecular docking techniques. ⋯ Molecular docking analysis revealed that they have substantial binding abilities. These 53 targets were found to influence EP by manipulating PI3K-Akt, IL-17, TNF, and apoptosis signaling pathways. The findings of this study indicate that ATR-NRR functions against EP by acting upon multiple pathways and targets, offering a basis for future study.

Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) and osteoarthritis involve similar factors in their pathogenesis. Both of these diseases are associated with an increased frequency of metabolic syndrome and underlying systemic inflammation. This study evaluated the thickness of the distal femoral cartilage using ultrasonography in patients with SD. ⋯ Further, a moderately positive correlation was observed between disease severity and FCT measured at left lateral condyle (r = .581, P < .001). Increased FCT in patients with SD might be an early indicator of osteoarthritis. However, further studies, especially those evaluating older patients with SD, are required to support our findings.

Squalene epoxidase (SQLE) is an essential enzyme involved in cholesterol biosynthesis. However, its role in sarcoma and its correlation with immune infiltration remains unclear. All original data were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). ⋯ SQLE expression was negatively correlated with infiltrating levels of dendritic cells and plasmacytoid dendritic cells and positively correlated with Th2 cells. SQLE expression was negatively correlated with the expression of chemokines (CCL19 and CX3CL1) and chemokine receptors (CCR2 and CCR7) in sarcoma. In conclusion, SQLE may be used as a prognostic biomarker for determining prognosis and immune infiltration in sarcoma.
