Lysosome-dependent cell death (LCD) plays a significant role in overcoming cancer apoptosis and drug resistance. However, the relationship between LCD-associated genes (LCDGs) and glioma, including glioblastoma (GBM) and low-grade glioma (LGG), remains unclear. In this study, an LCDGs risk signature was constructed for glioma patients by utilizing 4 algorithms (Extreme Gradient Boosting, Support Vector Machine, Random Forest, and Generalized Linear Models) to identify core LCDGs. ⋯ Mechanistic analyses suggested a strong relationship between LAPTM4A and immune cell infiltration, as well as several drug sensitivities. In conclusion, our findings suggest that LAPTM4A may serve as a potential oncogene associated with LCD in pan-cancer, particularly in glioma, GBM, and LGG. These findings provide important insights for individualized treatment of glioma.

This study aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics of Gynura segetum (Tusanqi)-induced hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (HSOS) and the benefits and risks of anticoagulant therapy for Tusanqi-induced HSOS. This was a retrospective analysis of 49 patients with Tusanqi-induced HSOS who were treated with anticoagulation or standard therapy between July 2006 and December 2022. Clinical manifestations included abdominal pain (n = 47) and peritoneal or pleural effusion (n = 46); 2 patients died. ⋯ Bleeding complications occurred in 6 patients in the anticoagulant treatment group. Early diagnosis and anticoagulant treatment are beneficial for rapid recovery after Tusanqi-induced HSOS. However, anticoagulant treatment is associated with the risk of multisite bleeding.

A thorough bibliometric analysis of publications published in the field of chondrosarcoma research has not yet been performed using the Web of Science database, especially for publications published between 1993 and 2023. This study, with a focus on the fields of orthopedics, surgery, and oncology, aims to fill this knowledge gap by providing a thorough analysis of current knowledge in the field of chondrosarcoma. ⋯ Overall, this study offers crucial insights into the development and collaborative nature of the chondrosarcoma research landscape and its long-lasting influence on academic research and clinical practice.

To determine whether health status during pregnancy is associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and abnormal head circumference (HC) in the offspring. This study included 41 Han children with ASD who visited the Children's Health Clinic of the Second Hospital of Shandong University between March 2018 and February 2019, and 264 Han children with typical development (TD) who visited the clinic during the same period. Physical measurements were performed on the children. ⋯ The incidence of abnormal HC was higher in the ASD group than that in the TD group. Maternal FA supplementation during pregnancy may be negatively associated with the occurrence of ASD and abnormal HC in the offspring. Further examination of the role of maternal health status in the etiology of ASD is recommended.

AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine is one of the most common vaccines against COVID-19 used globally. However, adverse reactions post-vaccination have been reported, including severe symptoms and cases of sudden death within several hours. Therefore, this study aimed to establish a database of spectral characteristics of blood pressure waveforms (BPWs) for the AZ vaccine and analyze reactions after vaccine administration using objective physiological signal and symptom analyses for identifying potential differences between heavy and slight groups defined in the study. ⋯ Most average values of posttest/pretest of CVn and Pn_SD in the slight group exceeded 100%. All average values of posttest/pretest of CVn and Pn_SD in the heavy group were smaller than 100%. This approach may enable prediction of the risk of reactions post-vaccination to determine suitability of the AZ vaccine and evaluation of side effect severity in vaccinated individuals using pulse analysis to ensure relevant precautions are taken.
