Knowledge mapping of prodromal Parkinson's disease: A bibliometric review and analysis (2000-2023).
The prodromal period of Parkinson's disease (PD) is currently a hot topic in PD research. However, no bibliometric analysis has been conducted in this research field. This study aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the status, hotspots, and trends in the prodromal period of PD using bibliometrics. ⋯ Studying the nonmotor symptoms of PD precursors is a major topic in this research field. This is the first bibliometric study to comprehensively summarize the research trends and developments in the prodromal period of PD. This information identifies recent research frontiers and hotspots and provides a reference for scholars studying the prodromal period of PD.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) has seen a significant increase over the past 3 decades. However, our understanding of its etiology, pathogenesis, and pharmacological treatment remains limited. This comprehensive review aims to address these gaps by analyzing trends, evaluating previous research, and providing insights for future investigations. ⋯ Our study identified gaps in understanding the etiology, pathogenesis, and treatment of UC. Future research in UC should focus on genomics, personalized treatment, microbial therapy and leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence. These areas hold the potential for improving UC diagnosis, treatment, and management.

There is a growing body of evidence supporting the involvement of central nervous system inflammation in the pathophysiology of depression. Polyphenols are a diverse group of compounds known for their antioxidative and anti-inflammatory properties. They offer a promising and effective supplementary approach to alleviating neuropsychiatric symptoms associated with inflammation-induced depression. ⋯ These pathways interfere with the conduction of signaling molecules, resulting in the destruction and reduced synthesis of all inflammatory mediators and cytokines. This reduces the apoptosis of neurons and plays a neuroprotective role. This paper provides a theoretical basis for the clinical application of plant polyphenols.

Castleman disease (CD) was first included in the CSCO lymphoma diagnosis and treatment guidelines in 2021. Its diagnosis relies on lymph node pathological examination. Observation, surgical resection of the lesion, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and medical therapy (e.g., rituximab, siltuximab, steroids) can be used. Due to the traumatic, incurable, and recurrent nature of surgical treatment, drug therapy has many side effects and is expensive. Exploring effective traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) comprehensive treatment methods for this disease is important and necessary. ⋯ This case report confirms that TCM is safe and effective in the treatment of CD, which is worthy of promotion. In clinical practice, the individualized treatment for the patient, the duration of treatment, and the different disease states also affect the treatment outcome.

Gouty arthritis (GA) is an inflammatory disease caused by disorders of the purine metabolism. Although increasing number of drugs have been used to treat GA with the deepening of relevant research, GA still cannot be cured by simple drug therapy. The nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) signaling pathway plays a key role in the pathogenesis of GA. ⋯ In this study, we analyzed the therapeutic effects of traditional Chinese medicine monomers on GA in the existing literature through in vivo and in vitro experiments using animal and cell models. Based on this review, we believe that traditional Chinese medicine monomers that can treat GA through the NF-κB signaling pathway are potential new drug development targets. This study provides research ideas for the development and application of new drugs for GA.
