Treatment of osteoporotic distal femur fractures is often complicated by a high rate of nonunion and varus collapse. For such fractures, lateral plating with lateral incision and double plating with anterior paramedial incision have shown promising results in the recent literature. The hypothesis of this study was that bilateral plating of comminuted distal femur fractures in osteoporotic patients would result in higher union rates and lower revision rates compared to an isolated lateral locking plate. ⋯ Dual plate fixation using the anterior paramedial approach is an effective operative method for osteoporotic distal femur fractures. This has many advantages such as precise exposure, easy manipulation, anatomic reduction, and stable fixation. However, for surgical indications and medial bone defects > 1 cm, grafting should be performed.

To investigate the possible causal relationship between intestinal microflora and fractures using Mendelian randomization (MR). A 2-sample MR study of gut microbiota and fractures was conducted using a weighted inverse variance analysis with tests for heterogeneity, horizontal pleiotropy, and sensitivity. ⋯ This study revealed a causal relationship between gut microflora and fracture risk, demonstrating that the effect of different flora taxa flora abundance on fracture risk differs. It provides a reference for further studies.

To evaluate the feasibility of temporomandibular disorder (TMD) diagnosis with panoramic radiography, and provide standardized data for artificial intelligence-assisted diagnosis by measuring the differences in the condylar and mandibular ramus heights. A total of 500 panoramic radiographs (219 male and 281 female participants) of healthy individuals were examined. The panoramic machine compatible measurement software, SCANORA 5.2.6, was used to measure the bilateral condylar height and mandibular ramus height, and SPSS 27.0 was used to calculate the left- and right-side differences in condylar height and mandibular ramus height of healthy individuals. ⋯ In addition, the height of the mandibular ramus varied. By considering the left-right lateral height differences identified in this study along with clinical examination, it is possible to employ this metric as a preliminary screening tool for patients with TMD. Further, the use of panoramic radiographs for initial TMD screening is both viable and significant.

To understand the current status of cold-related knowledge, attitude, and practices (KAP) among nursing students as well as relevant factors, and provide a scientific basis for offering effective health education and promoting health care levels among nursing students. We conducted a survey of 668 nursing students using a self-designed "General Condition Questionnaire" and "Survey of common cold-related knowledge, attitude, and practices among students majoring in nursing." We used SPSS22.0 for data sorting and analysis; mean ± standard deviation was used for statistical description of the questionnaire scores, and t-test and ANOVA (analysis of variance) were used for differences comparison between binary variables and polytomous variables of the relevant factors. The test level α was 0.05, and the difference was considered statistically significant when P < .05. ⋯ There were significant differences in the KAP scores based on gender, educational background, grade, whether relevant knowledge had been acquired, extracurricular activities, weekly exercise frequency, exercise time per session, coping method after catching a cold, and medicine purchase methods (P < .05). The KAP level for cold among nursing students is at a good level. It is recommended that the relevant departments of nursing schools strengthen the education of nursing students on the knowledge about cold and physical exercise.

As a global malignancy with high mortality rate, targeted drug development for Uterine Cervical Neoplasms is an important direction. The traditional formula Guizhi Fuling Wan (GFW) is widely used in gynecological diseases. However, its potential mechanism of action remains to be discovered. ⋯ The interleukin-17 signaling pathway, tumor necrosis factor signaling pathway, and Toll-like signaling pathway were then selected for further molecular docking from the hub genes enrichment analysis results, which showed good binding. Among the Hub genes, JUN, VEGFA, IL1B, and EGF had a poor prognosis for CSCC. In conclusion, this study illustrates that GFW can have adjuvant therapeutic effects on CSCC through multiple targets and multiple pathways, providing a basis for further research.
