The objective was to evaluate the incidence and degree of double-J ureteral stent (DJUS) migration. Additionally, we aimed to investigate the risk factors associated with stent migration in the orthotopic neobladder group. In this retrospective study, 61 consecutive patients were included; 35 patients (45 DJUS placements) underwent radical cystectomy with orthotopic neobladder and 26 patients (35 DJUS placements) underwent urinary bladder without cystectomy between July 2021 and March 2023. ⋯ Among the patients in the orthotopic neobladder group who experienced DJUS migration, stent dysfunction occurred in 18 cases (81.8%), which was statistically significant (P = .003). Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that only the size of the DJUS was significantly and positively associated with migration (odds ratio:10.214, P = .010). DJUS migration can easily occur in patients undergoing radical cystectomy and orthotopic neobladder, and smaller stent sizes are associated with a higher incidence of migration.

The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and C-reactive protein-to-prealbumin ratio (CPAR) are novel markers of inflammation. The CPAR is an indicator of inflammation and malnutrition. We evaluated NLR and CPAR in combination as indicators of disease severity and prognosis in hospitalized older patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). ⋯ Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that patients in the severe group with elevated NLR + CPAR had a significantly lower 90-day survival rate than patients who lacked this finding (odds ratio 7.87, P < .001). NLR + CPAR may enable early diagnosis and assessment of disease severity in hospitalized older patients with COVID-19. This may also enable the identification of high-risk older patients with COVID-19 at the time of admission.

Successful treatment of gastric cancer 10 years after heart transplantation: A case report.
While survival rates among cardiac allograft recipients have improved, there has been a rise in post-transplant malignancies, with gastric cancer being less commonly reported. This study presented a successful treatment of gastric cancer in an individual 10 years after undergoing a heart transplant. ⋯ This case underscores the potential risk of malignancy from immunosuppressive agents in transplant recipients. The successful management of this complex scenario underscores the indispensable role of an MDT approach in treating such unique and challenging cases.

Risk factors for and outcomes of heatstroke-related intracerebral hemorrhage.
Some patients with heatstroke also experience intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). However, clinical case reports of heatstroke-induced ICH are rare. The risk factors for cerebral hemorrhage after heatstroke remain unknown. ⋯ Multivariate logistic regression showed that heatstroke patients with higher DIC scores (odds ratio, 18.402, 95% confidence interval, 1.384-244.763, P = .027) and higher creatine kinase levels (odds ratio, 1.021, 95% confidence interval, 1.002-1.041, P = .033) were at a higher risk of developing ICH. The death rate was higher in the cerebral hemorrhage group than in the control group (P = .042). Heatstroke-related cerebral hemorrhage may be associated with elevated creatinine levels and DIC severity (International Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis score) after heatstroke, and heatstroke with cerebral hemorrhage may accelerate death.

The overall pregnancy rate in individuals with an intrauterine device (IUD) for contraception is <1%. If pregnancy occurs while an IUD is in place, there is a higher risk of an ectopic pregnancy. We report the case of a woman with an IUD who was 7 weeks pregnant and experienced a spontaneous abortion 1 week later. ⋯ The novelty of this case report lies in the rare occurrence of an intrauterine pregnancy with a long-term IUD in place, the challenges posed by the IUD's specific location, and the complex management of threatened abortion in this context. Our case highlights the diagnostic management approach for intrauterine pregnancy with an IUD in place. Furthermore, it explores the impact of IUD location on pregnancy prognosis.
