In this paper, our objective was to investigate the potential mechanisms of Actinidia chinensis Planch (ACP) for breast cancer treatment with the application of network pharmacology, molecular docking, and molecular dynamics. "Mihoutaogen" was used as a key word to query the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology database for putative ingredients of ACP and its related targets. DrugBank, GeneCards, Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man, and therapeutic target databases were used to search for genes associated with "breast cancer." Using Cytoscape 3.9.0 we then constructed the protein-protein interaction and drug-ingredient-target-disease networks. An enrichment analysis of Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes pathway and gene ontology were performed to exploration of the signaling pathways associated with ACP for breast cancer treatment. ⋯ There were 118 intersections of targets for both active ingredients and diseases. Tumor protein P53 (TP53), AKT serine/threonine kinase 1 (AKT1), estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1), Erb-B2 receptor tyrosine kinase 2 (ERBB2), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), Jun Proto-Oncogene (JUN), and Heat Shock Protein 90 Alpha Family Class A Member 1 (HSP90AA1) selected as the most important genes were used for verification by molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation. The primary active compounds of ACP against breast cancer were predicted preliminarily, and its mechanism was studied, thereby providing a theoretical basis for future clinical studies.

It is essential to understand the considerable variations in bifurcation patterns of the tibial nerve (TN) and its peripheral nerves at the level of the tarsal tunnel to prevent iatrogenic nerve injury during surgical nerve release or nerve block. A total of 16 ankles of 8 human cadavers were dissected to investigate the branching patterns of the TN, using 2 imaginary lines passing through the tip of the medial malleolus (MM) as reference lines. Bifurcation patterns and detailed information on the relative locations of the medial plantar, lateral plantar, medial calcaneal, and inferior calcaneal nerves to the reference lines were recorded. ⋯ At the level of the tip of the MM, 2 of 7 parameters showed statistically significant difference between both sexes (P < .05). There was a statistically significant difference between left and right ankles in 2 of 7 measurements (P < .05). Further morphometric analysis of the width, distance, and angle between the TN branches and the tip of MM showed a highly variable nature of the location of the peripheral nerve branches.

Ustekinumab is prescribed for the treatment of patients with steroid-resistant moderate to severe Crohn's disease. We investigated its clinical outcome in patients with small and large intestinal lesions. Patients who were newly administered ustekinumab between March 2014 and December 2020 at Hamamatsu University Hospital were included in the study. ⋯ When limited to patients with lesions in the small intestine, albumin and hemoglobin levels showed significant improvement. Both types showed high rates of treatment retention, although there was no significant difference. Ustekinumab appears to be a safe and effective treatment option that may be particularly effective in patients with lesions in the small intestine only.

Observational research shows a link between celiac disease (CeD) and sarcoidosis, but the causal link between CeD and sarcoidosis is still unknown. A two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study was conducted to ascertain the causal connection between the 2 disorders. In our two-sample MR analysis, we identified independent genetic variants associated with CeD using publicly accessible GWAS data from people of European ancestry. ⋯ The results of this investigation did not reveal any evidence of horizontal pleiotropy or heterogeneity. Our MR analysis showed a causal effect between CeD and an elevated risk of sarcoidosis. Further study is still needed to confirm the findings and look into the processes underlying these relationships.

This study aimed to investigate the trends in diseases of the digestive system hospital admissions (DDSHA) in England and Wales between (1999-2019). Secondary objectives were to investigate the type of admission and medication prescribing related to the digestive system in England. This is an ecological study using data from the Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) database and the Patient Episode Database between April 1999 and March 2019. ⋯ Between 2004 and 2019, the overall prescribing rate for medications related to the gastrointestinal system increased by 74.6%, and stoma care related medications prescribing rate increased by 2.25-fold, followed by drugs affecting intestinal secretions and antisecretory drugs and mucosal protectants. There was an increase in hospital admission rate due to GI diseases in the United Kingdom (UK) by 84.2% from 1999 to 2019. The most remarkable rise in the rate of hospital admissions was seen in diseases of the liver and intestine.
