Meta Analysis
Prognostic role of lymph node micrometastasis in pN0 esophageal cancer: A meta-analysis.
To further identify the association between the lymph node micrometastasis (LNM) and long-term survival among pN0 esophageal cancer patients receiving the surgery. ⋯ The presence of LNM indicated significantly poorer long-term survival among operated pN0 esophageal cancer patients. LNM could serve as a novel and reliable prognostic indicator in surgical esophageal cancer.

Salivary and serum levels of lactate dehydrogenase in oral submucous fibrosis: A meta-analysis.
The occurrence of oral submucous fibrosis (OSF) is often accompanied by an increase in lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels. In this meta-analysis, we compared the salivary and serum levels of LDH levels between OSF patients and controls. ⋯ This meta-analysis showed that salivary and serum LDH levels were higher in OSF patients than in healthy controls, suggesting that LDH may be a potential biomarker for OSF.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) represents the most prevalent cancer globally. The past decade has witnessed significant advancements in BCC treatment, primarily through bibliometric studies. Aiming to perform a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of BCC treatments to comprehend the research landscape and identify trends within this domain, a dataset comprising 100 scientific publications from the Web of Science Core Collection was analyzed. ⋯ The keyword analysis revealed significant emphasis on the hedgehog pathway, Mohs micrographic surgery, and photodynamic therapy. The research shows developed nations are at the forefront in advancing BCC therapies, with significant focus on drugs targeting the hedgehog pathway. This treatment avenue has emerged as a crucial area, meriting considerable attention in BCC therapeutic strategies.

Mistreatment in medical education encompasses various forms of abusive behavior, often indicating a disregard for students' dignity and interfering with the learning process. This review paper aims to investigate the prevalence, patterns, and correlates of medical student mistreatment in Nigerian medical education and shed light on its impact on students' well-being. A literature search was conducted in August 2023 using Medline, Google Scholar, and Web of Science databases to identify relevant studies on the mistreatment of Nigerian medical students. ⋯ Reporting rates were low due to a lack of awareness, fear of reprisal, and perceived futility. The findings underscore the need for institutions to create a supportive environment, raise awareness of available support systems, and implement policies to prevent mistreatment. Future research should focus on larger-scale studies with diverse samples and longitudinal designs to address limitations in the current literature.

Testicular germ cell tumors (TGCT) are the most common testicular malignancies. KLRB1 is considered to influence the development and progression of a number of cancers. However, it is unclear how the KLRB1 gene functions in TGCT. ⋯ Functional enrichment analysis suggested that KLRB1 might be involved in immune response and inflammatory response. KLRB1 was highly positively correlated with natural killer cell activation in immune response and positively correlated with tumor-infiltrating immune cells. This study demonstrated for the first time the role of KLRB1 in TGCT, which may serve as a new biomarker associated with immune infiltration and provide a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of TGCT.
