Obesity and low enzyme A disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin type-1 motif-13 (ADAMTS13) activity have been linked to poor coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Given that obesity may influence ADAMTS13 activity, it is feasible; however, it remains unclear whether ADAMTS13 activity acts as a mediator between obesity and COVID-19 outcomes. We investigated the link between body mass index (BMI) and COVID-19 outcomes, using ADAMTS13 activity as a mediator. ⋯ When ADAMTS13 activity was considered, obese patients had greater COVID-19 severity and slower viral clearance than those with normal BMI. Low ADAMTS13 activity and impaired liver function are associated with poor COVID-19 outcomes. These findings encourage researchers to use molecular component identification to study the effects of obesity on the von Willebrand factor (VWF)/ADAMTS13 axis, COVID-19 pathogenesis, and outcomes.

The craniocervical flexion test (CCFT) is commonly used for assessing the performance and function of the deep cervical flexor muscles; however, objective measurements of cervical segmental motion during craniocervical flexion (CCF) are lacking. Therefore, the purpose of this study aimed to investigate cervical segmental motions during CCFT and determine the relationship between changes of cervical segmental motions and the cervical lordotic angle. A cross-sectional study of prospectively collected data. ⋯ The CCF motion during the low-stage CCFT was characterized by a significantly increased OA joint angle, decreased AA joint angle, and increased C1-C6 CSPPD compared with the initial stage (P < .05). The change in the value of C1-C6 CSPPD at low-stage CCFT showed a significant positive correlation with the cervical lordotic angle. These results indicate that the cervical lordotic angle is important in minimizing CSPPD and performing appropriately-isolated CCF motion during CCFT.

Explore Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma (ATR) and Polygalae Radix (PR) mechanisms in Alzheimer's disease (AD) treatment through network pharmacology. ATR-PR was investigated in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology (TCMSP) database, Batman, and Traditional Chinese Medicines Integrated Database (TCMID) to gather information on its chemical components and target proteins. Target genes associated with AD were retrieved from the GeneCards and National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) databases. ⋯ The involvement of oxidative stress-related processes and the crucial role of the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway suggest avenues for targeted therapeutic interventions in Alzheimer's disease treatment. Our proposition of the combined use of ATR-PR has emerged as a potential treatment strategy for AD, supported by a network pharmacology approach. This framework provides a robust foundation for future clinical applications and experimental research in the pursuit of effective Alzheimer's disease treatments.

Radiomics has shown great potential in the clinical field of colorectal cancer (CRC). However, few bibliometric studies have systematically analyzed existing research in this field. The purpose of this study is to understand the current research status and future development directions of CRC. ⋯ Through bibliometric analysis, the application of radiomics in CRC has been increasing year by year. The application of radiomics improves the accuracy of preoperative diagnosis, prediction, and prognosis of CRC. The results of bibliometrics analysis provide a valuable reference for the research direction of radiomics. However, radiomics still faces many challenges in the future, such as the single nature of the data source which may affect the comprehensiveness of the results. Future studies can further expand the data sources and build a multicenter public database to more comprehensively reflect the research status and development trend of CRC radiomics.

We aimed to investigate the accuracy of proton density fat fraction (PDFF) measurement of the lumbar vertebral bone marrow using chemical shift-encoded magnetic resonance imaging (CSE-MRI) with compressed sensing combined with parallel imaging (CSPI). This study recruited a commercially available phantom, and 43 patients. Fully sampled data without CSPI and under-sampled data with CSPI acceleration factors of 2.4, 3.6, and 4.8 were acquired using a 1.5T imaging system. ⋯ The intra- and inter-observer agreements were excellent (intraclass correlation coefficient: 0.988 and 0.981, respectively). A strong agreement and positive correlation were observed between the PDFF measurements obtained using CSE-MRI with and without CSPI. PDFF measurement of the lumbar vertebral bone marrow using CSE-MRI with CSPI can be acquired with a maximum reduction of approximately 75% in the acquisition time compared with a fully sampled acquisition.
