Observational Study
A disulfidptosis-related classification and risk signature identifies immunotherapy biomarkers and predicts prognosis in gastric cancer: An observational study.
Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most prevalent types of cancer globally, often detected at advanced stages. However, its prognosis remains poor, necessitating the exploration of new biomarkers. Disulfidptosis, a recently identified form of programmed cell death, has not yet been investigated in relation to GC and its associated mechanisms. ⋯ In this study, we have identified the association between different subtypes of disulfidptosis and alterations in the GC immunotumour microenvironment. Furthermore, we have developed and verified the accuracy of the DRRS, a valuable tool for predicting survival, biological function, and immune infiltration in patients with GC. These findings contribute to a better comprehension of disulfidptosis and offer potential opportunities for innovative approaches in GC treatment.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is a highly aggressive primary malignant brain tumor with a dismal prognosis despite current treatment strategies. Inflammation plays an essential role in GBM pathophysiology, contributing to tumor growth, invasion, immunosuppression, and angiogenesis. As a result, pharmacological intervention with anti-inflammatory drugs has been used as a potential approach for the management of GBM. ⋯ A narrative review was carried out, scanning publications from 2000 to 2023 on PubMed and Google Scholar. The search was not guided by a set research question or a specific search method but rather focused on the area of interest. Conventional treatments such as surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy have shown some benefits, but their effectiveness is limited by various factors such as tumor heterogeneity and resistance.

Clinical effect of perioperative stellate ganglion block on mechanical ventilation and respiratory function of elderly patients with septic shock.
Here we investigated the effect of a stellate ganglion block on the perioperative mechanical ventilation and postoperative recovery of respiratory function of elderly patients with infectious shock. ⋯ Group T exhibited superior inflammatory responses and respiratory function. Stellate ganglion block in elderly patients with septic shock reduces inflammation, improves mechanical ventilation perioperatively, and promotes postoperative recovery and respiratory function.

Malignant pleural effusion (MPE) is a frequently observed complication in advanced malignant tumors. Clinical studies have shown that lentinan for injection (LNT) is beneficial for improving patients' quality of life and prolonging their survival. The purpose of this meta-analysis is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of LNT combining cisplatin in the treatment of MPE. ⋯ Available evidence suggested the combined use of LNT and cisplatin showed better efficacy in treating MPE without increasing ADR incidence than using cisplatin alone. LNT is an ideal treatment for MPE, which has high clinical application value.

Probiotics combined with atorvastatin administration in the treatment of hyperlipidemia: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial.
Hyperlipidemia is a common feature of chronic diseases. The aim of this work was designed to assess the role of probiotics (Lactobacillus casei Zhang, Bifidobactetium animalis subsp. lactis V9, and Lactobacillus plantarum P-8) in the treatment of hyperlipidemia. ⋯ Probiotics optimize the gut microbiota structure and decrease the amount of harmful bacteria in patients with hyperlipidemia. Probiotics can influence the composition of gut microorganisms and increase their diversity and abundance in vivo. It is recommended to use probiotics combined with atorvastatin to treat patients with hyperlipidemia.
