Radiology has become a fundamental constituent of the modern medicine. However, it has been observed that medical students in Pakistan often lack sufficient guidance and education in this field. This study aims to establish whether Pakistani medical students possess the requisite basic knowledge required in radiology and their attitude and perception toward radiology as a potential career path. ⋯ In contrast, medical students from Punjab (COR = 0.504, 95% CI = 0.344-0.737, P < .001) and second-year medical students (COR = 0.046, 95% CI = 0.019-0.107, P < .001) had lower odds of good knowledge. Our study suggests that the medical student's knowledge of radiology is deficient. Thus, it is advised that radiological societies work with medical school boards to integrate thorough and early radiology exposure into the undergraduate curriculum.

Incidence of perioperative complications in COVID-19 survivors: Prospective observational clinical trial.
As long as the COVID-19 pandemic continued, the continuation of elective surgery had been unavoidable. There is still no consensus on the timing of elective surgery in patients who have recovered from COVID-19. The primary aim of this study was to determine the effect of time after COVID-19 infection on perioperative complications. ⋯ The incidence of perioperative complications decreased with increasing time after a positive SARS-CoV-2 infection, but there was no difference in perioperative complications between the groups. As the time between COVID-19 positivity and surgery increased, the need for oxygen support in the postoperative period decreased. It is not possible to share clear data on the timing of operation after SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Therapy resistance in gastric cancer poses ongoing challenges, necessitating the identification of ferroptosis-related genes linked to overall survival for potential therapeutic insights. The purpose of the study was to identify ferroptosis-related genes contributing to therapy resistance in gastric cancer and explore their associations with overall survival. Differentially expressed ferroptosis-related genes were identified in therapy-resistant versus therapy-responsive gastric cancer patients. ⋯ DUSP1/NOX4/SREBF1/TNF/KRAS expression was associated with immune cell infiltration. The hub gene-based risk model (DUSP1/TNF/NOX4/LONP1) shows promise as an overall survival predictor in gastric cancer. Ferroptosis-related hub genes represent potential therapeutic targets for overcoming therapy resistance in gastric cancer treatment.

Evaluation of adverse reactions induced by anti-tuberculosis drugs among hospitalized patients in Wuhan, China: A retrospective study.
The study aims to estimate the incidence and risk factors of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) induced by anti-tuberculosis (TB) drugs. A single center retrospective analysis of patients taking anti-TB therapy from January 2016 to December 2018 in the hospital was conducted. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to identify these risk factors of ADRs induced by anti-TB drugs. ⋯ Anti-TB drugs usually induced the occurrence of severe and frequent adverse effects, such as hyperuricemia. Treatment duration, HREZ, HRZS and HRZ regimens, and type of TB (extrapulmonary) should be considered as high-risk factors. Thus, it should be recommended to consider optimum management during anti-TB therapy, particularly hyperuricemia monitoring and hepatic function test.

The role of preoperative FPR and FAR in prognostic evaluation of stages II and III radical colorectal cancer: A single-center retrospective study.
The inflammatory and nutritional states of body are 2 important causes associated with the initiation and progression of colorectal cancer (CRC). The aim of this study is to investigate the prognostic evaluation value of preoperative fibrinogen-to-prealbumin ratio (FPR) and preoperative fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio (FAR) in CRC. The clinical data of 350 stages II and III patients with CRC who received radical resection were retrospectively analyzed. ⋯ The combination of FPR, FAR, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, and carbohydrate antigen199 had the maximum area under curve (AUC = 0.856, 95% CI: 0.814-0.897, Sen = 78.20%, Spe = 82.49%, P < .05) under the receiver-operating characteristics curve. The preoperative FPR and FAR have important prognostic value and they can be used as independent prognostic marker for patients with stages II and III CRC undergoing radical resection. Moreover, the combination of biomarkers could further enhance the diagnostic and prognostic efficacy of CRC.
