Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are a subset of cells with self-renewal ability and tumor generating potential. Accumulated evidence has revealed that CSCs were shown to contribute to tumorigenesis, metastasis, recurrence and resistance to chemoradiotherapy. Therefore, CSCs were regarded as promising therapeutic targets in cancer. ⋯ In 2016, the focus transitioned to the tumor microenvironment and the ecological niches. The analysis of papers published in major journals since 2021 showed that "transcription," "inhibition," and "chemoresistance" emerged as new focused issues. In general, the research focus has gradually shifted from basic biology to clinical transformation. "Tumor microenvironment" and "chemo-resistance" should be given more attention in the future.

To explore the therapeutic mechanism of Mori Cortex against osteosarcoma (OS), we conducted bioinformatics prediction followed by in vitro experimental validation. ⋯ Mori Cortex may exert its therapeutic effects on OS through multiple cellular signaling pathways. Morusin, the active component of Mori Cortex, can inhibit cell cycle regulation and promote cell death in OS cells by targeting AKT/ERK pathway.

This bibliometric analysis explored the knowledge structure of and research trends in the relationship between light and myopia. ⋯ This study is the first to use bibliometric methods to analyze existing research on the relationship between light and myopia. In recent years, the intensity and wavelength of light have become research hotspots in the field. Further research on light of different intensities and wavelengths may provide new perspectives in the future for designing more effective treatments and interventions to reduce the incidence of myopia.

Analysis of short-term ventilation weaning for patients in spontaneous supratentorial intracranial hemorrhage.
Prolonged ventilation is a complication of spontaneous supratentorial hemorrhage patients, but the predictive relationship with successful weaning in this patient cohort is not understood. Here, we evaluate the incidence and factors of ventilation weaning in case of spontaneous supratentorial hemorrhage. We retrospectively studied data from 166 patients in the same hospital from January 2015 to March 2021 and analyzed factors for ventilation weaning. ⋯ The group of successful weaning had 84 patients and the group of weaning failed had 82 patients. The patient's age, type of operation, GCS on admission to the Intensive care unit (ICU), GCS at discharge from the ICU, medical comorbidity was significantly associated with successful weaning, according to Student t test and the chi-square test. According to our findings, patients with stereotaxic surgery, less history of cardiovascular or prior cerebral infarction, GCS >8 before admission to the hospital for craniotomy, and a blood albumin value >3.5 g/dL have a higher chance of being successfully weaned off the ventilator within 14 days.

Previous studies have revealed the critical functions of NEK2 in controlling the cell cycle which is linked to poor prognosis in multiple tumor types, but less research has been devoted to clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). ⋯ ccRCC patients with NEK2 high expression have a poorer prognosis than those with NEK2 low expression, resulting from its function of promoting proliferation, accompanied by increased infiltration of CD8 + T cells and Tregs and T-cell exhaustion and will respond better to proper treatments.
