Prognostic value of pretreatment platelet count, fibrinogen and d-dimer levels in osteosarcoma patients: A meta-analysis.
Previous studies explored the prognostic value of pretreatment platelet count, fibrinogen, and d-dimer level in patients with several types of cancer, however, a comprehensive conclusion has not been reached in osteosarcoma patients. ⋯ Based on current evidence, pretreatment platelet count and d-dimer level could be good prognostic biomarkers for Chinese osteosarcoma patients. However, future validation is also needed.

Gut microbiota metabolites and risk of major adverse cardiovascular events and death: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Gut microbial metabolites such as trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) and its precursors, namely betaine, L-carnitine, and choline, have been implicated as risk factors for cardiovascular events and mortality development. Therefore, we aim to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the validity of these associations. ⋯ Elevated concentrations of TMAO were associated with increased risks of MACE and all-cause mortality. High levels of L-carnitine/choline were also significantly associated with an increased risk of MACE. However, no significant difference was found between high or low levels of betaine for the outcome of MACE.

Barriers and incentives influencing the use of partograph in Nigeria: A comprehensive review.
This comprehensive review examines the barriers and incentives influencing the use of partographs in maternal healthcare within Nigeria. Maternal mortality remains a critical concern in the country, making it imperative to evaluate the factors that shape the adoption of essential tools like the partograph. The literature review underscores the global significance of partograph utilization, emphasizing its role in improving maternal outcomes. ⋯ Through examining case studies, the review presents real-world examples that illustrate successful and challenging instances of partograph implementation. The article concludes with actionable recommendations to overcome identified barriers and enhance incentives for effectively integrating partographs into maternal healthcare practices in Nigeria. This study contributes valuable insights to the ongoing discourse on improving maternal healthcare, emphasizing the need for tailored strategies in the Nigerian context.

Effects of alteplase and aspirin on functional outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke and mild non-disabling neurological deficit.
Investigate the effect of Alteplase and Aspirin on the functional outcomes of patients with acute ischemic stroke with mild non-disabling neurological deficit. In this single-center, randomized controlled study, we selected 60 patients with acute ischemic stroke with mild non-disabling neurological deficit admitted to our hospital from January 2021 to January 2022, and randomly divided them into the study group (n = 30) and the control group (n = 30), the control group was given the Aspirin treatment, the study group was given the Alteplase treatment, and the changes in neurological recovery, daily living ability, exercise ability, balance ability, cognitive function, and short-term prognosis outcomes were observed in these 2 groups. ⋯ The short-term prognostic outcomes of these 2 groups were not significantly different (P > .05). The effect of the use of Alteplase or Aspirin on short-term functional outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke and mild non-disabling neurological deficit is not much different.

To compared the effectiveness and safety of single standard mini percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (SM-PCNL) combined with retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) and multiple standard mini percutaneous nephrolithotomy (MSM-PCNL) in the treatment of octopus stone of 2 to 4 cm. The clinical data of SM-PCNL combined with RIRS and MSM-PCNL for octopus stone with a 2 to 4 cm diameter from October 2019 to December 2022 were analyzed retrospectively, and propensity score matching was used to screen patients. The matched patients were paired, and the operation time, complications, postoperative pain, tubeless rate, stone-free rate (SFR), and postoperative hospital stay were further compared between the 2 groups. 88 patients underwent SM-PCNL combined with RIRS (combined group), and 143 patients underwent MSM-PCNL (multiple channel group). ⋯ In postoperative pain (4.00 ± 0.74 vs 5.00 ± 0.74, P = .00), tubeless rate (44.90% vs 20.41%, P = .01), hemoglobin drop (9.38 ± 7.48 vs 14.22 ± 7.69, P = .01), postoperative hospital stay (3.37 ± 1.09 vs 5.08 ± 1.29, P = .00), the combined group was significantly better than the multiple channel group. Regarding operation time, the combined group was more than the multiple channel group (103.27 ± 27.61 vs 78.39 ± 19.31, P = .000). For octopus stone with a diameter of 2 to 4 cm, the effectiveness and safety of SM-PCNL combined with RIRS were similar to those of MSM-PCNL The surgeon should carefully evaluate the patient's physical condition, stone characteristics, and expectations before the operation and assist the patient in choosing an appropriate plan.
