This study aimed to evaluate the clinical and radiological features of the patella fixation technique using Toggleloc suspension system in a single ellipsoidal blind patellar tunnel during medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction. ⋯ In cases of patellofemoral instability, fixation of the tendon graft in blind ellipsoid tunnel using the Toggleloc suspension system provides satisfactory patellar graft fixation strength, significant functional improvement and a low failure rate.

The impact of instrumented lumbar fusion surgery on psychiatric problems in elderly patients with degenerative spinal stenosis: The observational study.
This is a prospective cohort study to investigate the effects of instrumented lumbar fusion surgery on psychiatric problems, including anxiety, insomnia, and depression, in patients with degenerative spinal stenosis, as well as on pain and the activities of daily living. Surgery was performed in the patients with Schizas grade C or D spinal stenosis with; if a patient's quality of life was impaired for at least 3 months or if patient had neurologic deficits. Finally, 69 patients were reviewed. ⋯ The patients had mild degrees of anxiety, insomnia, and depression at T1, and Beck anxiety inventory, insomnia severity index, visual analog scale for back pain, visual analog scale for leg pain, and Oswestry disability index improved significantly by T4. In elderly patients with degenerative spinal stenosis, instrumented lumbar fusion surgery improves not only pain and activities of daily living, but also anxiety and insomnia. However, there was no improvement in depression over the 6-month follow-up period.

Examine the effects of focused ultrasound in combination with plasma radiofrequency ablation technology on the physiological stability and postoperative recovery of persistent strain rhinitis. For a control experiment, 90 patients with persistent strain rhinitis were chosen and split into two groups: the control group (CG) and the experimental group (EG). The CG used conventional radiofrequency ablation technology, while the EG used focused ultrasound technology combined with radiofrequency ablation technology to treat persistent strain rhinitis. ⋯ Focused ultrasound and plasma radiofrequency ablation technology have a good therapeutic impact in the treatment of persistent strain rhinitis and can significantly reduce MTT. This technology can effectively improve symptoms such as nasal congestion, nasal flow, and headache in patients, and the therapeutic effect is long-lasting. The hospitalization time after treatment is significantly shortened.

Two-sample Mendelian randomization studies revealed a causal relationship between insulin use and osteoporosis: An observational study.
To investigate causal associations between diabetes, insulin treatment and osteoporosis using LDSC analysis with a 2-way Mendelian randomization study. ⋯ There was a strong genetic correlation between diabetes, insulin treatment and osteoporosis, a causal association between diabetes, insulin treatment and osteoporosis, and no causal association between osteoporosis and diabetes, insulin treatment.

Few studies have examined the risk factors associated with the type of acute respiratory failure (ARF) in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This study evaluated the clinical characteristics and prognosis of patients hospitalized for acute exacerbation of COPD based on the type of ARF. The medical charts of hospitalized patients with acute exacerbation of COPD between 2016 and 2021 were retrospectively reviewed. ⋯ There was no difference in mortality and readmission rates between the type 1 and type 2 ARF groups. In conclusion, patients with type 1 ARF rather than type 2 ARF had higher mortality and readmission rates than those without ARF. The prognoses of patients with type 1 and type 2 ARF were similar.
