There has been significant interest in the changes in menstrual cycles following coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection or vaccination. This study aimed to investigate the evidence for such changes and their potential risk factors. We used a descriptive study design and gathered data by sharing an online survey questionnaire on social media platforms. ⋯ However, neither COVID-19 infection nor vaccination resulted in significant changes in the menstrual cycle characteristics (P > .05). Other sociodemographic variables, such as age, body mass index, and smoking, were not significantly associated with menstrual cycle changes(P > .05). The study findings suggest that educational level and anxiety may play a role in menstrual irregularities, whereas COVID-19 infection or vaccination itself may not directly affect menstrual cycle.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a cardiovascular disease that seriously threatens human health and brings huge economic burden. At present, its pathogenesis remains unclear and its treatment is limited to surgical treatment. With the deepening and analysis of studies on the mechanism of ferroptosis, a new idea has been provided for the clinical management of AAA patients, including diagnosis, treatment and prevention. ⋯ Therefore, we have established the has_circ_0005073/miRNA-543/AKR1C1 axis in AAA. We found AKR1C1 was differentially expressed between normal and AAA groups. Based on AKR1C1, we constructed the has_circ_0005073/miRNA-543/AKR1C1 axis to analyze AAA.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a significant public health issue owing to its widespread occurrence and substantial morbidity and mortality rates. Recent studies have highlighted serum uric acid (SUA) level as a probable risk factor for CRC; however, the inconsistency in these findings has created doubt. We performed a Mendelian randomization (MR) study utilizing extensive cohort data from the UK BioBank and the NHGRI-EBI Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) Catalog to investigate the causal connection between SUA levels and CRC incidence. ⋯ Considering SUA levels as the exposure and CRC as the outcome, the inverse variance-weighted (IVW) approach in MR showed that the odds ratios (ORs) for CRC for each unit increase in SUA were 0.232 (95% confidence interval [CI] of OR 0.094-0.570; P = .001) and 0.551 (95% CI of OR 0.325-0.934; P = .027). Pleiotropic tests and sensitivity analysis confirmed minimal horizontal pleiotropy and the robustness of causality. Our research deepens the understanding of the association between SUA levels and CRC, offering insights into prevention strategies and patient outcomes prediction.

This study aimed to investigate immune score and stromal score-related signatures associated with preeclampsia (PE) and identify key genes for diagnosing PE using bioinformatics analysis. Four microarray datasets, GSE75010, GSE25906, GSE44711, and GSE10588 were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. GSE75010 was utilized for differential expressed gene (DEGs) analysis. ⋯ The constructed risk model demonstrated that the area under the ROC curves in internal and the other three external datasets were all greater than 0.80. A 7-gene risk signature was identified to build a potential diagnostic model and performed well in the external validation group for PE patients. These findings illustrated that immune and stromal cells played essential roles in PE during its progression.

Rosacea is a chronic and recurrent inflammatory skin disease affecting the center of the face that causes burning and itching sensations and changes in aesthetics. Liang Xue Wu Hua Tang (LXWHT) is a classic herbal formulation that is efficacious and has been widely used in the clinical treatment of rosacea; however, the pharmacological mechanisms remain unclear. The aim of the present study was to investigate the mechanism of action of LXWHT using network pharmacology and molecular docking. ⋯ Chemokine ligand 2, interferon-γ, interleukin-1ß, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ, and matrix metallopeptidase 9 may be the core therapeutic target. Quercetin, stigmasterol, kaempferol, beta-sitosterol, luteolin, beta-carotene, baicalein, acetin, and isorhamnetin were predicted to be the key active ingredients. LXWHT may exert therapeutic effects in the treatment of rosacea by modulating immunity and angiogenesis, laying the foundation for further research.
