Several studies have reported a potential association between the gut microbiota (GM) and scoliosis. However, the causal relationship between GM and scoliosis and the role of inflammatory factors (IFs) as mediators remain unclear. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between GM, IFs, and scoliosis. ⋯ IFs do not appear to act as mediators in the pathway from GM to scoliosis. In conclusion, this study demonstrated a causal association between the GM, IFs, and scoliosis, indicating that IFs are not mediators in the pathway from the GM to scoliosis. These findings offer new insights into prevention and treatment strategies for scoliosis.

Diabetes nephropathy (DN), as one of the common complications of diabetes, is characterized by persistent albuminuria, decreased glomerular filtration rate, and elevated arterial blood pressure. At present, Xuebijing injection is widely used in the treatment of DN. However, few systematic reviews and meta-analysis related to Xuebijing injection intervention in DN were published. In order to more systematically and objectively evaluate the clinical efficacy of Xuebijing injection intervention in DN, we conducted systematic reviews and meta-analysis to verify it. ⋯ Xuebijing injection combined with alprostadil has more advantages in treating DN compared to routine Western medicine.

Impact of red blood cell distribution width (RDW) on postoperative outcomes in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients.
This study examines the relationship between red blood cell distribution width (RDW) and the prognosis of patients undergoing hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Additionally, it explores the potential effect of RDW for the early identification of high-risk patients after surgery, advocating for timely interventions to improve outcomes. A comprehensive literature search was conducted on May 16, 2022, across PubMed (23 studies), Embase (45 studies), the Cochrane Library (1 study), and CNKI (17 studies), resulting in 6 relevant articles after screening. ⋯ RDW is a prognostic factor for HCC patients after surgery. Elevated RDW levels are associated with a poorer prognosis, adversely affecting both OS and DFS. RDW may serve as a valuable marker for stratifying risk and guiding intervention strategies in the postoperative management of HCC patients.

Efficacy and safety of 0.01% atropine combined with orthokeratology lens in delaying juvenile myopia: An observational study.
It aims to study the efficacy and safety of low-concentration Atropine combined with orthokeratology (OK) lens in delaying juvenile myopia. This is a prospective study, 172 adolescents aged 8 to 12 years who were admitted to the diopter department of Hengshui People Hospital from April 2021 to May 2022 were selected. According to the equivalent spherical diopter measured at the time of initial diagnosis, myopic patients were randomly divided into low myopia group (group A) and moderate myopia group (group B). ⋯ Low-concentration atropine combined with OK lens could effectively delay the development of juvenile myopia, and had a high safety. Low-concentration of Atropine would not have a significant impact on the basic tear secretion and tear film stability. Nightwear of OK lens also had no significant impact, but it would significantly reduce the tear film rupture time in the first 3 months, and at the same time, the tear film rupture time would be the same after 6 months as before treatment.

Positive effect of self-exercise following Botulinum toxin injection on the permanence of the recovery among the patients with HFS and BFS: A clinical trial.
Botulinum toxin (BoNT) injection serves as the primary modality for addressing hemifacial spasm (HFS) and blepharospasm (BFS), which are prevalent movement disorders affecting the craniofacial region. However, even though the short-term effectiveness of the botulinum injection may reach over 80%, the long-term effectiveness is still a debatable point Herein, we aim to investigate whether facial self-exercise following the BoNT injection can extend the time period of effectiveness. ⋯ Facial self-exercise following the botulinum toxin application may extend the period of effectiveness of botulinum toxin treatment the subjects with HFS and BFS.
