Traditionally, herbal medicines have been used to alleviate nausea and vomiting; however, a comprehensive clinical evaluation for postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), especially after laparoscopic surgery, remains limited. This review aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of herbal medicine as an alternative therapy to prevent and manage nausea and vomiting after laparoscopic surgery compared with untreated, placebo, and Western medicine groups. ⋯ Herbal medicine is an effective and safe treatment for nausea and vomiting secondary to laparoscopic surgery. However, the number of studies was small and their quality was not high; thus, more well-designed RCTs are warranted in the future.

Value of sonoelastography for diagnosis of breast non-mass lesions and comparison with BI-RADS: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Not all the breast lesions were mass-like, some were non-mass-like at ultrasonography. In these lesions, conventional ultrasonography had a high sensitivity but a low specificity. Sonoelastography can evaluate tissue stiffness to differentiate malignant masses from benign ones. Then what about the non-mass lesions? The aim of this study was to evaluate the current accuracy of sonoelastography in the breast non-mass lesions and compare the results with those of the American College of Radiology breast Imaging-Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS). ⋯ Sonoelastography has a higher specificity and a lower sensitivity for differential diagnosis between malignant and benign breast non-mass lesions compared with BI-RADS, although there were no differences in AUC between them.

Efficacy of the efficacy between dexamethasone versus triamcinolone acetonide after cataract surgery: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
To evaluate the clinical effects between dexamethasone and triamcinolone acetonide (TA) after phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation among cataract patients. ⋯ This study supports that there were no differences in IOP, logMAR, and anterior chamber flare between TA injection and dexamethasone among cataract patients. TA injection treatment on the first day showed higher amounts of anterior chamber cells than with dexamethasone.

Moderate red wine (RW) consumption is associated with a low risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, few studies have evaluated the effects of RW and white wine (WW) on inflammatory markers related to atherosclerosis in healthy individuals and high-risk subjects for CVD. This study aimed to assess the effect of RW on inflammatory markers in healthy individuals and high-risk subjects for CVD compared with moderate alcohol consumption. ⋯ Moderate consumption of RW is more effective than WW in alleviating atherosclerosis-related inflammatory markers in healthy people rather than high-risk subjects for CVD, but this needs to be further confirmed by studies with larger sample sizes.

HyperArcTM volumetric modulated arc therapy for hypopharyngeal cancer with solitary recurrence in the cervical vertebra: A case report and literature review.
It is difficult to reirradiate head and neck cancers because of the toxicity from previous radiation dose delivery. Conventional volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and intensity-modulated radiation therapy often have poor target coverage. The new HyperArcTM VMAT (HA-VMAT) planning approach reportedly has better target coverage, higher conformity, and can spare normal organs compared to conventional VMAT; however, research on recurrent head and neck cancers is limited. Here, we report the clinical outcomes of HA-VMAT for previously irradiated hypopharyngeal cancer with solitary recurrence in the first cervical vertebra (C1). ⋯ This is the first report regarding the clinical outcomes of HA-VMAT for previously irradiated hypopharyngeal cancer with solitary recurrence over the C1 vertebra. HA-VMAT achieves highly conformal dose distribution and excellent sparing of critical organs. There was a favorable initial clinical response with no toxicity. Long-term follow-up is essential in such cases.
