Gaucher disease (GD) is a rare hereditary lysosomal storage disorder disease progression and inappropriate treatment. However, not all patients with GD receive timely diagnosis and treatment. ⋯ Herein, we report 2 patients with a delayed diagnosis of GD to increase awareness and improve education regarding rare diseases. However, noninvasive β-glucocerebrosidase activity or GBA gene testing had not been done before bone marrow aspiration, which are the noninvasive and reliable tests that indicate the diagnosis of GD.

Percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) is a minimally invasive technique employed for treating vertebral compression fractures. Although PKP is simple and relatively safe, severe complications are possible. Here, we report a new, severe complication linked to this procedure, namely nonocclusive mesenteric ischemia (NOMI). ⋯ The occurrence of NOMI after PKP is uncommon. Yet, once it happens, delayed diagnosis or misdiagnosis can lead to serious consequences such as intestinal necrosis and abdominal infection, even endangering the patient's life. We currently lack experience in preventing this complication, but timely diagnosis and appropriate intervention are effective measures in treating such complications.

The objective of this study was to construct a concise prediction model for serious adverse events (SAEs) in order to assess the likelihood of SAE occurrence among hospitalized patients undergoing concurrent chemoradiotherapy. An electronic database of a Cancer Centre was utilized to conduct a cross-sectional review survey. Our research involved the recruitment of 239 patients who were undergoing concurrent chemoradiotherapy in the Department of Nasopharynx and Radiotherapy. ⋯ The ultimate model used had 3 variables, namely cystatin C, C-reactive protein, and serum amyloid A. The model exhibited an area under the curve of 0.626 (95% CI: 0.555-0.696; P < .001). The model accurately predicts the occurrence of SAE, and the variable data can be easily obtained, and the assessment technique is straightforward.

The short-video application TikTok shows great potential for disseminating health information. We assessed the content, sources, and quality of information in videos related to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) on TikTok. Our study aims to identify upload sources, content, and characteristic information for NAFLD videos on TikTok and further evaluate factors related to video quality. ⋯ In general, the quality of NAFLD video information from professional content and professional sources was higher than that of nonprofessional sources and nonprofessional content, the video quality of general surgeons was better than that of other department physicians, and the video quality of junior physicians was better than that of senior physicians. In terms of video correlation, durations, the number of fans, and the total number of works were negatively correlated with DISCERN scores (R < 0, P < .05), while likes, comments, collections, shares, and days since upload were not significantly correlated with DISCERN and GQS scores (P > .05). The medical information on TikTok is not rigorous enough to guide patients to make accurate judgments, platforms should monitor and guide publishers to help promote and disseminate quality content.

Psychological status of patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion undergoing bimaxillary surgery: A comparative study.
Skeletal Class III malocclusion can significantly impact psychological well-being. Although bimaxillary surgery is a well-established corrective intervention, its psychological effects are not fully understood. This study aims to investigate changes in self-esteem, sensitivity to criticism, and social appearance anxiety following surgery to inform targeted nursing interventions for psychological adaptation. ⋯ Within-group comparisons showed significant improvements in all measures after surgery (P < .05). Bimaxillary surgery positively affects the psychological well-being of patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion, enhancing self-esteem and reducing sensitivity to criticism and social appearance anxiety. However, some psychological concerns persist, indicating a need for targeted nursing interventions to further support these patients' psychological well-being.
