Review Case Reports
Bilateral facial nerve palsy complicating Kawasaki disease: A case report and literature review.
Kawasaki disease (KD) manifests as an acute, self-limited vasculitis disease that constitutes the primary cause of acquired heart disease in children under 5 years of age. Facial nerve palsy (FNP) is a rare complication associated with coronary artery lesions (CALs) in patients with KD. Patients with KD and FNP usually present atypically, leading to a delayed diagnosis and treatment of KD. ⋯ The clinical symptoms of FNP complicating KD in children are atypical and can easily lead to delayed diagnosis and treatment. FNP in patients with KD may serve as a risk factor for CALs, which are more challenging to resolve than the FNP itself. Adding corticosteroids to IVIG may be recommended to reduce IVIG resistance, decrease the risk of developing CALs, and alleviate CALs.

Association between the triglyceride-glucose index and mortality in critically ill patients: A meta-analysis.
To further identify the association of the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index with the risk of mortality among critically ill patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). ⋯ The TyG index was significantly associated with mortality among critically ill patients without DM, and an elevated TyG index predicted an increased risk of mortality.

Septic cardiomyopathy (SCM) is a severe complication caused by sepsis, resulting in a high mortality rate. The current understanding of the pathogenic mechanism of SCM primarily involves endocardial injury, microcirculation disturbance, mitochondrial dysfunction and fibrosis. ⋯ The present study provides a summary of various pathophysiological changes and mechanisms behind the involvement of HPA in SCM. It also presents a novel perspective on the pathogenic mechanism, diagnosis and treatment of SCM.

Effect of SARS-CoV-2 vaccination on the outcomes of assisted reproductive technology: A review.
It has been over 4 years since the coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak, caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). As an effective response to coronavirus disease 2019, the SARS-CoV-2 vaccines have been widely used around the world. However, couples who are planning to conceive naturally or by assisted reproductive technology (ART) are concerned about the impact of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines on pregnancy and offspring safety. ⋯ It is time to summarize the experience about the effect of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine on the outcomes of ART, which can provide a reference for the future. This paper reviewed relevant research, and significant adverse effects of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine on the outcome of ART have not been observed. Considering the increased risk of serious complications in pregnant women infected with SARS-CoV-2, timely vaccination may be a wiser choice.

The accelerated adoption of digital health technologies in the last decades has raised important ethical and safety concerns. Despite the potency and usefulness of digital health technologies, addressing safety, and ethical considerations needs to take greater prominence. This review paper focuses on ethical and safety facets, including health technology-related risks, users' safety and well-being risks, security and privacy concerns, and risks to transparency and diminished accountability associated with the utilization of digital health technologies. In order to maximize the potential of health technology benefits, awareness of safety risks, and ethical concerns should be increased, and the use of appropriate strategies and measures should be considered.
