To explore the clinical efficacy and pharmacological mechanism analysis of Xubi capsule in the treatment of patients with liver and kidney deficiency osteoarthritis (OA). In this single-center retrospective study, 120 patients with liver and kidney deficiency OA admitted to the Hangzhou Fuyang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2020 to May 2022 were included, and patients were divided into the intervention group (n = 60) and the control group (n = 60) according to their treatment. The control group was treated with Ibuprofen, while the intervention group was treated with Xubi capsule combined with Ibuprofen. ⋯ A total of 119 gene ontology cellular components were significantly enriched. The combination of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine adopted in this study can effectively treat patients with liver and kidney deficiency OA and relieve the joint pain of patients. In a multicomponent and multitarget approach, the Xubi capsule breaks through the limitations of traditional nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and has good clinical application value.

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is an autoimmune disease, and the relationship between copper death and AS is not clear. The aim of this study was to analyze and identify potential cuprosis-related genes associated with the onset of AS by bioinformatics methods. We obtained the AS gene expression profile GSE25101 from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, which consists of blood samples from 16 active AS patients and 16 sex-and age-matched controls. ⋯ Its clinical usefulness and net benefit have been thoroughly analyzed and estimated through the use of a DCA curve. Moreover, INPP5E, CYB5R1, and HGD are found to be associated with various types of immune cells. In conclusion, the systematic analysis of cuprosis-related genes may aid in the identification of mechanisms related to copper-induced cell death in AS and offer valuable biomarkers for the diagnosis and treatment of AS.

Comparative analysis of basal metabolic rate measurement methods in overweight and obese individuals: A retrospective study.
The global prevalence of overweight and obesity is on the rise, presenting significant health challenges worldwide. Obesity is associated with various chronic diseases and imposes substantial economic burdens on society. Accurate assessment of basal metabolic rate (BMR) is crucial for effective weight management strategies. ⋯ While IC remains the gold standard, predictive equations and BIA offer alternative methods. The Mifflin-St Jeor equation emerged as a practical option, closely aligning with IC results. However, discrepancies between methods and the influence of body composition highlight the importance of individualized approaches to BMR assessment in weight management strategies.

Breast cancer is the most prevalent form of cancer worldwide. Therefore, improved disease detection has emerged as a focal point in clinical studies. At the forefront of innovation, radiomics has the capability to extract comprehensive insights from medical images, ultimately enhancing the accuracy of diagnostic procedures. ⋯ In the realm of cutting-edge medical research, the top two keywords, magnetic resonance imaging and machine learning stand at the forefront as current areas of intense focus. Breast cancer radiomics is advancing rapidly, presenting numerous opportunities and obstacles. Our study of the literature in this academic area aimed to pinpoint the primary themes addressed in the studies and anticipate prospective avenues for research.

Sevoflurane is a volatile anesthetic that can tolerate inhalation induction and is widely used for inducing anesthesia due to its pleasant odor. As a drug that has been on the market for nearly 30 years, the vast majority of adverse reactions have been documented. This study aims to improve the adverse reactions related to Sevoflurane through the mining, organizing and analysis of Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System database data. ⋯ Based on the reviewing relevant literature, we found that the vast majority of AEs have been reported in relevant studies. However, there is currently no study revealing the correlation between atrial fibrillation and Sevoflurane, which means that atrial fibrillation may be an unreported AE of Sevoflurane. In the present study, we found that atrial fibrillation may be a new adverse reaction of Sevoflurane through the Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System database, which can function as a novel guideline to guide us in the more standardized use of Sevoflurane in clinical practice.
