Common variants of vitamin D receptor gene polymorphisms and risk of gastric cancer: A meta-analysis.
While earlier studies have suggested that variations in the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene could influence the susceptibility to gastric cancer (GC), the results have shown inconsistency. This meta-analysis aimed to examine the association of 5 common polymorphisms in VDR, including Taq1 rs731236 (T > C), FokI rs2228570 (C > T), Cdx2 rs11568820 (G > A), BsmI rs1544410 (G > A), and ApaI rs7975232 (G > T) with the risk of GC. ⋯ This study revealed that FokI rs2228570 and Taq1 rs731236 polymorphisms of VDR might be linked to the odds of GC.

Changes of oxidative stress in 3D film to be prepared for echocardiography: A randomized controlled study.
Echocardiography (ECHO) is a nonprocedure that causes acute stress in children. Fear, anxiety, and fluctuations in children's blood pressure and heart rate can potentially lead to alterations in echocardiographic measurements. The insufficient research on virtual reality pediatric preparation applications, particularly in the context of echocardiographic procedures, underscores the necessity for additional studies focusing on pediatric patients. This study sought to assess the impact of virtual reality applications tailored explicitly for ECHO on children's oxidative stress levels. ⋯ The research revealed that the 3D film used to prepare ECHO reduces the stress parameters associated with heart risk and may affect the ECHO measurements. At the same time, the study also proved the positive effect of 3D film preparation by increasing the anti-stress factor.

The combined application of pulsed electromagnetic fields and platelet-rich plasma in the treatment of early-stage knee osteoarthritis: A randomized clinical trial.
This study aims to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of combined treatment with pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection in improving pain and functional mobility among patients with early-stage knee osteoarthritis (KOA). We hypothesize that this combined therapy can yield superior treatment outcomes. ⋯ PRP, PEMFs, and the combination of PRP and PEMFs therapy all effectively alleviate knee joint pain and improve joint function. However, compared to single treatment modalities, the combined therapy of PRP and PEMFs demonstrates more pronounced efficacy.

Comparative analysis of basal metabolic rate measurement methods in overweight and obese individuals: A retrospective study.
The global prevalence of overweight and obesity is on the rise, presenting significant health challenges worldwide. Obesity is associated with various chronic diseases and imposes substantial economic burdens on society. Accurate assessment of basal metabolic rate (BMR) is crucial for effective weight management strategies. ⋯ While IC remains the gold standard, predictive equations and BIA offer alternative methods. The Mifflin-St Jeor equation emerged as a practical option, closely aligning with IC results. However, discrepancies between methods and the influence of body composition highlight the importance of individualized approaches to BMR assessment in weight management strategies.

The effect of Rebozo technique on perceived labour pain and childbirth experience: A randomized controlled trial.
Pain, stress, and anxiety experienced during childbirth can have detrimental effects on labor and delivery. The rebozo technique is an ancestral method used to minimize pain and enhance relief during gestation. This study aimed to investigate the effects of the rebozo technique on the birth process and its probable benefits on the birth experience. ⋯ This research has established that the use of the rebozo technique throughout labor helps enhance her feelings about being pregnant, as well as heightening fulfillment with delivery.
