Recent observational studies have indicated that psychiatric disorders were associated with risk of bone mineral density (BMD) reduction. But the causal relationship between neuroticism and BMD remained unclear. By using public genome-wide association study data, a 2-sample bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) study was performed to investigate the causal relationship between neuroticism and BMD (heel BMD, forearm BMD, femoral neck BMD, lumbar spine BMD, and total body BMD). ⋯ The causal effects remained significant after accounting for the effects of body mass index, smoking, and drinking. Genetic proxy for higher neuroticism was significantly associated with an increased risk of heel BMD reduction. Further studies were warranted to elucidate the underlying biological mechanisms and explore the potential application in disease early screening and management.

To investigate the causal relationship between sleep duration and heart failure (HF) in a European population. We focused on the continuous sleep duration of 460,099 European individuals as our primary exposure. Genome-wide significant single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs, n = 9851,867) linked to continuous sleep duration were adopted as instrumental variables. ⋯ These conclusions were further bolstered by consistent results from sensitivity analyses. Our study suggests a causal linkage between sleep duration and the onset risk of HF in the European population. Notably, shorter sleep durations were associated with a heightened risk of HF.

Immunothrombosis is a physiological process that constitutes an intravascular innate immune response. Abnormal immunothrombosis can lead to thrombotic disorders. With the outbreak of COVID-19, there is increasing attention to the mechanisms of immunothrombosis and its critical role in thrombotic events, and a growing number of relevant research papers are emerging. This article employs bibliometrics to discuss the current status, hotspots, and trends in research of this field. ⋯ Bibliometric analysis summarizes the main achievements and development trends in research on immunothrombosis, offering readers a comprehensive understanding of the field and guiding future research directions.

Previous studies have suggested a possible link between autoimmune diseases and graft dysfunction; however, a causal link remains unclear. Exposure factors were set as 13 autoimmune diseases, and outcomes were set as graft dysfunction. ⋯ At the same time, primary sclerosing cholangitis was found to be heterogeneous as an exposure factor (P = .009), but no heterogeneity or pleiotropy was found in other exposure factors. Our preliminary findings show 2 autoimmune diseases as risk factors for graft dysfunction, 1 autoimmune disease as a protective factor for graft dysfunction and the mechanisms remain to be understood.

Clinical efficacy and safety of acupuncture combined with statin in dyslipidemia: A meta-analysis and system review.
This study aims to systematically evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of acupuncture in combination with statin therapy compared to statin monotherapy for the treatment of dyslipidemia. ⋯ Our findings support the potential of acupuncture combined with statin as a viable clinical treatment option for dyslipidemia. However, it is important to note that current research on the mechanism of acupuncture for lipid-lowering has not yielded definitive results, and there are inherent biases in the conducted clinical studies.
