Educational attainment (EA) is often used as a symbol of socioeconomic status and is associated with several diseases. However, uncertainty remains regarding the potential relationship between EA and chronic pain. This study aimed to evaluate the potential causal association between EA and chronic pain. ⋯ The results of sensitivity analysis indicated the reliability of our causal estimates. Higher levels of EA may provide protection against chronic pain risk. Enhancing education, narrowing social and economic disparities may help alleviate the burden of chronic pain.

Thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) is associated with changes in the levels of metabolites; however, the exact causal relationships remain unclear. Identifying this complex relationship may provide new insights into the pathogenesis of TAA. We used genome-wide association studies to investigate the relationship between metabolites and TAA in this study. ⋯ Sensitivity analysis verified the lack of heterogeneity (P = .499, .584, .232, and .624, respectively; IVW test) or pleiotropy (P = .621, .483, .598, and .916, respectively; Egger test). Our study provides new evidence of a causal relationship between metabolites and the risk of TAA, thus providing new insights into the pathogenesis of this disease. These findings suggest a promising approach for metabolite-based therapeutic interventions.

Different surgical interventions for unstable intertrochanteric fracture of the femur: Network meta-analysis.
Although a large body of evidence has reported on surgical approaches for the treatment of unstable intertrochanteric femoral fractures, studies that comprehensively evaluate treatment outcomes are limited. The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of extramedullary fixation (i.e., dynamic hip screw [DHS]), intramedullary fixation (i.e., the proximal femoral nailing [PFN]), and hemiarthroplasty (HA) for the treatment of unstable intertrochanteric femoral fractures using network meta-analysis. ⋯ HA and PFN have good efficacy in improving the HHS and preventing joint deformities. However, HA showed a higher incidence of superficial infection than that observed with PFN, whereas a higher risk of screw cutout is observed with PFN than with HA.

Effect of denosumab, an anti-osteoporosis drug, on vascular calcification: A meta-analysis.
Denosumab is an effective drug for the treatment of osteoporosis. This meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate efficacy of denosumab on the treatment of vascular calcification (VC). ⋯ Our meta-analysis revealed that denosumab did not show a very definite inhibitory effect on VC. However, denosumab showed the effective effect on inhibiting VC in CKD patients undergoing dialysis. More large RCTs are needed to verify these results.

Dahuang Mudan Decoction is commonly used in China for the treatment of acute pancreatitis. Nevertheless, the therapeutic efficacy of the drug remains a subject of debate, and its active ingredients and potential therapeutic targets remain to be determined. The present study used a network pharmacological approach to investigate the active ingredients and possible targets of the drug, and illustrated the clinical effectiveness of Dahuang Mudan Decoction in the treatment of acute pancreatitis by meta-analysis. ⋯ In summary, network pharmacological studies have shown that Dahuang Mudan Decoction affects acute pancreatitis through different components, targets, and mechanisms. In addition, the meta-analysis study strongly supported the effectiveness of Dahuang Mudan Decoction in the treatment of acute pancreatitis.
