Streptococcus pneumoniae is a common cause of community-acquired pneumonia. Currently, it is believed that many cases of pulmonary infection with negative results on pathogenic testing are caused by S. pneumoniae. There have been no reports of the detection of S. pneumoniae antigen in lung lavage fluid. ⋯ The identification of S. pneumoniae antigen in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid may facilitate earlier and more precise diagnosis of pneumonia attributed to S. pneumoniae.

Peptic ulcer (PU) is a common digestive disorder in the gastroduodenal. Although bibliometrics has become very popular in the medical field, a bibliometric analysis of research related to PU has yet to be reported. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the trends and hotspots of PU in the last 15 years. ⋯ The article with the highest burst strength was published in 2012 by Malfertheiner Peter. The keyword with the highest burst strength was "oxidative stress." Our research provides a bibliometric analysis of PU research to reveal the trends and hotspots of PU for 2008 to 2023. Our findings will help researchers to quickly understand the current state of research and provide a reference for in-depth studies in this area to foster the development of PU research.

Primary aldosteronism (PA) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are both considered independent risk factors for hypertension, which can lead to an increase in cardiovascular disease incidence and mortality. Clinical studies have found a bidirectional relationship between OSA and PA. However, the underlying mechanism between them is not yet clear. ⋯ Our study identified shared 5 hub genes between APA and OSA (IL6, ATF3, PTGS2, CCL2, and CXCL2). Through bioinformatics analysis, we found that the 2 disorders showed relative similarity in terms of inflammation, stress, and impaired immune function. The identification of hub genes may offer potential biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of PA and OSA.

Several observational studies indicated a close association between prostate cancer and COVID-19. Nevertheless, whether there was a causal effect between them remained obscure. In this study, we aimed to detect the potential association between genetically determined prostate cancer and the risk of COVID-19. ⋯ Sensitivity analysis showed no evidence of pleiotropy and heterogeneity. We did not discover genetic evidence to substantiate causal links between prostate cancer and COVID-19. Large-scale randomized controlled trials were required to enhance a more profound comprehension of this relationship in the future.

This study was conducted to explore the effects of erythromycin on biofilms comprising Acinetobacter baumannii (A baumannii). ⋯ Erythromycin disrupts A baumannii biofilms by destroying the quorum sensing system.
