Addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) stands as a major global health challenge threatening humanity. Resolving this issue can be initiated through emphasizing the significance of AMR education among students in health colleges during their undergraduate studies. Hence, the aim of this study is to assess the pharmacy students' knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding antibiotic resistance in 7 Middle Eastern countries. ⋯ The majority of the students agreed that antibiotic resistance is increasing, they should be more concerned regarding antibiotic consumption and that government should create more awareness of antibiotic resistance, and that they should have enough knowledge to prevent antibiotic resistance. Around 3 quarters of the students (73.0%) confirmed that they take antibiotic only after getting prescription from their physician and almost half (51.7%) reported that they take antibiotic to manage their fever. The study concluded good educational programs in Middle East pharmacy schools with the need for targeted educational interventions promoting responsible antibiotic stewardship practices among future pharmacists.

The effect of prone-position ventilatory strategy among neurology patients with SARS-CoV-2: A cross-sectional survey.
Awake-prone position combined with noninvasive ventilation or high-flow nasal cannula ventilation has been shown to be safe in the treatment of patients with moderate to severe ARDS and COVID-19, and may avoid intubation and reduce patient mortality. We conducted a cross-sectional study in a hospital to observe the effect of prone position on neurological patients with SARS-CoV-2. A total of 52 neurological patients with SARS-CoV-2 participated in the survey. ⋯ Oxygen saturation improvements did not differ among delivery modes. Prone position nursing can improve the effect of oxygen therapy on patients with neurological diseases combined with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Prone position nursing can slow the need for advanced equipment such as ventilators during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Considering the invasiveness of the biopsy method, we attempted to evaluate the ability of the gamma distribution model using magnetic resonance imaging images to stage and grade benign and malignant brain tumors. ⋯ The findings of our study highlight the potential of using a gamma distribution model with diffusion-weighted imaging based on multiple b-values for grading and staging brain tumors. Its potential integration into routine clinical practice could advance neurooncology and improve patient outcomes through more accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Contrast-MRI scans carry risks associated with the chemical contrast agents. Accurate prediction of enhancement pattern of gliomas has potential in avoiding contrast agent administration to patients. This study aimed to develop a machine learning radiomics model that can accurately predict enhancement pattern of gliomas based on T2 fluid attenuated inversion recovery images. ⋯ This study demonstrated that the radiomics model comprising of 15 features using the Gaussian process as a classifier had the highest predictive performance in both the training cohort and the internal validation cohort, with the area under the curve being 0.88 and 0.80, respectively. This model showed an area under the curve, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of 0.81, 0.98, 0.61, 0.82, 0.76 and 0.96, respectively, in the external validation cohort. This study suggests that the T2-FLAIR-based machine learning radiomics model can accurately predict enhancement pattern of glioma.

Application of the pancreatic body suspension technique in laparoscopic splenectomy combined with selective pericardial varicosity dissection: An observational study.
To investigate the safety of pancreatic body suspension (PBS) technique in laparoscopic splenectomy combined with pericardial devascularization for patients. A retrospective study inclusive of 16 patients who underwent laparoscopic splenectomy combined with pericardial devascularization from 2017 to 2022 was performed. A total of 5 patients underwent PBS technique and 11 underwent the traditional technique. ⋯ There were 2 cases of conversion to open, 3 cases of postoperative bleeding, and 1 reoperation. The incidence of postoperative short-term complications (postoperative bleeding, reoperation) was significantly higher in the traditional method group than in the PBS group (36.36% vs 0%, P = .034). PBS technique improved the safety of laparoscopic splenectomy combined with pericardial dissection and is worthy of clinical promotion.
