Cancer incidence and development are strongly correlated with obesity, however there is insufficient data to support a causal relationship between intentional weight loss and the prevention or promotion of cancer. We investigated the causal relationship between weight loss following Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) and the incidence of 18 cancers using Mendelian randomization (MR). A genome-wide association studies (GWAS) data related to weight loss following RYGB from the GWAS catalog database were used as exposure, and GWAS data related to 18 cancers from the Medical Research Council integrative epidemiology unit open GWAS project were used as outcomes. ⋯ Genetically predicted weight loss following RYGB has significant causal effects in reducing the risk of breast and lung cancer. It also has potential benefits in lowering the risk of hemotological cancers and increasing the risk of cervical cancer. Considering the limitations of our study, the reliability of its results and the underlying mechanisms require further investigation.

A study on the correlation between hyperuricemia and lifestyle and dietary habits.
This study aimed to compare whether differences in lifestyle and dietary habits have an impact on hyperuricemia and to provide a reliable basis for the health management of citizens in our city. A total of 10,883 subjects who did not suffer from hyperuricemia, was anticipated in this study in 2018. After 2 years of follow-up, 7727 did not suffer from hyperuricemia and 3156 suffered from hyperuricemia. ⋯ The results showed that the prevalence of hyperuricemia varied by sex, high-fat food, smoked and fried food, milk and soy products, sugary drinks, sleep time, and the degree of smoking and drinking. Among them, infrequent consumption of milk and soy products, and short sleep time were risk factors for hyperuricemia, and men were more likely to have elevated uric acid levels after 2 years. It is recommended that people with hyperuricemia should actively limit their intake of fried foods, alcohol, and purine-rich foods, increase their intake of milk and soy foods, increase their sleep time, and seek to improve kidney and liver function.

The study aimed to evaluate blood biochemical markers in individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and liver cirrhosis (LC) to discover if they may be utilized to assess their nutritional status, specifically protein malnutrition (PM). A retrospective examination of 500 T2D patients referred to the hospital from January 2022 to December 2023 was performed. After that, participants were split into 2 groups: LC and non-LC. ⋯ A 53.2% had PM as shown by biochemical markers, which might be useful in evaluating patients' nutritional status. PM correlated with older age, decreased hemoglobin levels, reduced total protein, albumin, and transferrin but high ALP with high BMI index (obese). These findings can assist T2D with LC specialists develop better nutritional management and quality of life methods.

This study aims to explore the effect of integrated care mode on patients in Da Vinci robot-assisted urology surgery and provide a new nursing scheme for clinic. A total of 93 patients from August 2022 to March 2024 were selected and divided into intervention group (43 cases) and control group (50 cases). The operation time, blood loss, first postoperative exhaust time, time to get out of bed, pain score (visual analog scale), psychological status (self-rating anxiety scale and self-rating depression scale), quality of life score (36-Item Short Form Survey), catheter retention time, patient satisfaction, incision healing, incidence of urinary system infection, nutritional status, and complication rate were compared between the 2 groups. ⋯ The retention time of catheter was shorter than that of the control group (P < .05), the patient satisfaction was 93.02% higher than that of the control group 78.00% (P < .05), and the grade A incision healing rate was 90.70% higher than that of the control group 76.00% (P < .05). The incidence of urinary system infection (4.65%) was lower than that of the control group (16.00%) (P < .05), the changes of serum albumin level and body weight were lower than that of the control group (P < .05), and the complication rate of 6.98% was lower than that of the control group (22.00%) (P < .05). Although the integrated medical care model did not significantly shorten the operation time, it was beneficial to the postoperative recovery of patients in many aspects.

The aim of this review was to provide a review of the pharmacological treatments for pregnancy complications in adults. This review analyzed medications used for pregnancy complications in phase IV clinical trials based on the ClinicalTrials.gov database. The search included completed trials only. ⋯ One trial each focused on anemia, dystocia, and placentation disorders (80, 1003, and 14 participants, respectively) without any adverse drug effects reported. The trials reported minimal adverse drug effects, suggesting potential effectiveness and safety in managing these complications. While the trials mentioned minimal adverse effects, close monitoring and individualized patient care are essential, as are evaluating the risk-benefit ratio and the specific circumstances of each patient.
