Spontaneous dissection of the internal carotid artery manifesting as pain in an endodontically treated molar.
Dental pain is a common occurrence, whereas spontaneous dissection of an internal carotid artery is rare. ⋯ It is important for dental practitioners to be familiar with unusual causes of dental pain. In this case in which the cause of dental pain was uncommon, the authors referred the patient appropriately, thus avoiding potentially serious complications.

Patients with undiagnosed obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) represent a major public health problem, and studies suggest that the incidence of OSA may be even higher than estimated. ⋯ Dental professionals have a unique doctor-patient relationship that affords them a role in recognizing sleep disorders by exploring the history of patients who are sleepy.
