MRI examinations in children under sedation or general anesthesia are a multidisciplinary challenge for pediatric, radiology and anesthesiology departments. This article presents findings about patient population, anesthesiology procedures and process times in pediatric MRI procedures under sedation or general anesthesia. The analysis is focused on the potential to optimize process times. ⋯ In relation to older children, toddlers, infants and neonates had the longest process times in diagnostic radiology procedures, caused by the need to secure the airway. Improved pre-MRI processes have an enormous potential to generate additional examination time.

To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of percutaneous vesselplasty in pathological vertebral fractures of the thoracolumbar spine in selected tumor patients. ⋯ From these preliminary results, vesselplasty appears to be a treatment option worth considering in pathological vertebral fractures, even in the case of posterior wall deficiency. Selected tumor patients might benefit from vesselplasty as a minimally invasive procedure for stabilization of the fractured vertebra, pain control, and improvement in body function and quality of life. Long-term prospective studies with a larger sample size are required to validate these results.

Vessel recanalization is an important predictor of clinical outcome in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. Endovascular therapies are used with increasing frequency. There is no general agreement on the policy of anesthesia during endovascular therapy, ranging from general anesthesia (GA) to local anesthesia at the puncture site with conscious sedation (CS) as needed. The aim of the study was to evaluate the safety and feasibility and radiological and clinical outcome of endovascular stroke therapy under CS. ⋯ Endovascular stroke therapy with CS is feasible, can be performed safely and is faster than with GA.
