[Diagnosis of tracheal instability: spiral CT in inspiratory and expiratory and respiratory cine CT].
In tracheo- and bronchomalacia, localization and determination of collapse is necessary for planning a surgical procedure. We compared inspiratory and spiral CT, cine CT, and bronchoscopy and evaluated the relevance of each method. ⋯ Paired inspiratory and expiratory spiral CT localizes tracheal stenoses and demonstrates clinically relevant extraluminal compression. Improved evaluation of expiratory collapse and further information of localized tracheal instability is provided by cine CT.

To evaluate different MR methods (ventricle and flow measurements) for the postoperative follow-up of hemodynamics in patients with extra- or intracardial TCPC. ⋯ MRI is a useful method for the assessment of ventricular function and muscle mass in the follow-up after the modified Fontan operation. MRI flow measurements additionally provided clinically relevant information about the hemodynamics in Fontan patients.

To compare digital X-ray, CT, and MRI in the evaluation of ligamentous and osseous lesions in upper cervical spine specimens after artificial craniocervical injury with the findings of macroscopic preparation. ⋯ In post-mortem studies, CT was superior to MRI in the visualization of osseous and ligamentous injuries after trauma of the upper cervical spine. However, these results are not transferable to patients with rotation injury in general.

To identify which statistical tests are applied in German radiological publications, to what extent their use has changed during the last decade, and which factors might be responsible for this development. ⋯ During the last decade, the use of statistical methods in German radiological journals has fundamentally improved, both quantitatively and qualitatively. Presently, advanced techniques account for 20% of the pertinent statistical tests. This development seems to be promoted by the increasing availability of statistical analysis software.
