Review Meta AnalysisPhysical risk factors for developing non-specific neck pain in office workers: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Identifying risk factors associated with the development of work-related neck pain in office workers is necessary to facilitate the development of prevention strategies that aim to minimise this prevalent and costly health problem. The aim of this systematic review is to identify individual worker (e.g., lifestyle activity, muscular strength, and posture) and workplace (e.g., ergonomics and work environment) physical factors associated with the development of non-specific neck pain in office workers. ⋯ This review found evidence for a few number of physical risk factors for the development of neck pain, however, there was also either limited or conflicting factors. Recommendations for future studies evaluating risk factors are reported and how these may contribute to the prevention of neck pain in office workers.

Observational StudyOrganizational justice and insomnia: a prospective cohort study examining insomnia onset and persistence.
Insomnia is one of the most common health problems and causes a large social burden. Psychosocial work-related factors are reported to be associated with both insomnia onset and insomnia persistence. However, the association between organizational justice (OJ) and insomnia remains unclear. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of OJ on insomnia persistence, as well as insomnia onset. ⋯ OJ, especially interpersonal justice, was revealed as an associated factor for both insomnia onset and persistence. These findings may provide useful information for prevention of insomnia among working population.

Modifying effect of cigarette smoking on the association of organizational justice with serious psychological distress in Japanese employees: a cross-sectional study.
We examined the modifying effect of cigarette smoking (i.e., smokers vs. non-smokers) on the association of organizational justice (i.e., procedural justice and interactional justice) with serious psychological distress (SPD) in Japanese employees. ⋯ Cigarette smoking seems to have a harmful effect on the association of the lack of procedural justice with SPD in Japanese employees.

Does physical or psychosocial workload modify the effect of musculoskeletal pain on sickness absence? A prospective study among the Finnish population.
Previously, among food industry workers, multisite pain predicted sickness absence (SA) only in those with low biomechanical workload. Here we studied among a wide range of occupations whether the relationship of pain with SA was modified by the level of physical or psychosocial workload. ⋯ We did not find evidence for significant modification by physical or psychosocial workload of the relationship between musculoskeletal pain and SA periods lasting ≥10 workdays.

Observational StudyIncreased night duty loading of physicians caused elevated blood pressure and sympathetic tones in a dose-dependent manner.
Night duty has been recognized as a significantly harmful stressor for physicians. However, the relationship between various levels of duty loading and stress response is unknown. This study examined whether duty load increases cardiovascular stress indicators in a dose-dependent manner. ⋯ This observational analysis suggests that the dose-dependent stress responses of the cardiovascular system in physicians were caused by the duty load.
