Prostate Cancer Diagnostics Using a Combination of the Stockholm3 Blood Test and Multiparametric Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
More specific diagnostic for prostate cancer is needed to decrease overdetection and number of diagnostic procedures. ⋯ In this study, 532 men coming for prostate cancer workup underwent blood sampling, and both traditional and magnetic resonance imaging/fusion-guided prostate biopsies. We report that performing targeted biopsies only in men with an elevated risk as assessed by the Stockholm3 test saved biopsies, decreased overdetection, and maintained the number of detected high-grade cancers.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) can be used as prognostic biomarkers in many types of cancer. ⋯ The RCClnc4 classifier could facilitate patient management and treatment decisions.

Integrated molecular profiling has identified intrinsic expression-based bladder cancer molecular subtypes. Despite frequent histological diversity, robustness of subtypes in paired conventional (urothelial) and squamous components of the same bladder tumor has not been reported. ⋯ A targeted RNA sequencing assay is capable of assessing gene expression-based subtypes in individual components of clinical bladder cancer tissue specimens. Different histological components of the same tumor may yield divergent expression profiles, suggesting that expression-based subtypes should be interpreted with caution in heterogeneous cancers.

Adjuvant Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor-targeted Therapy in Renal Cell Carcinoma: A Systematic Review and Pooled Analysis.
Contradictory data exist with regard to adjuvant vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR)-targeted therapy in surgically managed patients for localized renal cell carcinoma (RCC). ⋯ Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-targeted therapy after nephrectomy for localized kidney cancer is not associated with consistent improvements in delaying cancer recurrence or prolonging life and comes at the expense of potentially significant side effects.

Randomized Trial Comparing Open Radical Cystectomy and Robot-assisted Laparoscopic Radical Cystectomy: Oncologic Outcomes.
Open radical cystectomy (ORC) has proven to be an important component in the treatment of high-risk bladder cancer (BCa). ORC surgical morbidity remains high; therefore, minimally invasive surgical techniques have been introduced in an attempt to improve patient outcomes. ⋯ Of 118 patients randomly assigned to undergo radical cystectomy/pelvic lymphadenectomy and urinary diversion, half were assigned to open surgery and half to robot-assisted techniques. We found no difference in risk of recurring or dying of bladder cancer between the two groups.
