The COVID-19 pandemic has had rapid and inevitable effects on health care systems and the training and work plans of urology residents. Smart learning is a valuable strategy for maintaining the learning curve of residents.

We present a suggested list of urologic surgeries that should be prioritized if COVID-19 surges warrant cancellation of elective surgeries to free up health care resources. The recommendations should be tailored to locally available resources and situations and can be used as a framework for other specialties.

Conflicts of interest (COIs) can potentially introduce a risk of bias into the assessment of evidence and the formulation of recommendations for guidelines. It is essential that a systematic process for the disclosure and management of COIs is adopted to minimise potential bias in the guideline development process.
