Comparative Study Observational Study
Comparison Between the Four-kallikrein Panel and Prostate Health Index for Predicting Prostate Cancer.
The four-kallikrein panel and the Prostate Health Index (PHI) have been shown to improve prediction of prostate cancer (PCa) compared with prostate-specific antigen (PSA). No comparison of the four-kallikrein panel and PHI has been presented. ⋯ Prostate-specific antigen screening is controversial due to limitations of the test. We found that two blood tests, the Prostate Health Index and the four-kallikrein panel, performed similarly and could both aid in decision making among Swedish men undergoing a prostate biopsy.

Radical nephrectomy with inferior vena cava (IVC) thrombectomy is the preferred treatment for renal cell carcinoma (RCC) with IVC thrombus. However, IVC thrombectomy using a laparoscopic approach has not been reported for high-level thrombi. ⋯ We studied the treatment of patients with an inferior vena cava thrombus at different levels using a laparoscopic approach. This technique was safe and feasible in well-selected patients.

Multicenter Study Observational Study
Preoperative Prostate-specific Antigen Isoform p2PSA and Its Derivatives, %p2PSA and Prostate Health Index, Predict Pathologic Outcomes in Patients Undergoing Radical Prostatectomy for Prostate Cancer: Results from a Multicentric European Prospective Study.
Currently available predictive models fail to assist clinical decision making in prostate cancer (PCa) patients who are potential candidates for radical prostatectomy (RP). New biomarkers would be welcome. ⋯ Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) isoform p2PSA and its derivatives, percentage of p2PSA to free PSA and the Prostate Health Index, are associated with adverse characteristics of prostate cancer; however, these biomarkers provided only a slight net benefit for clinical decision making.
