Zosteriform skin involvement of nodal T-cell lymphoma: a review of the published work of cutaneous malignancies mimicking herpes zoster.
A 77-year-old Japanese woman initially presented with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma involving her neck, axillary and inguen lymph nodes. She had edematous erythema and nodules limited to the skin in zosteriform distribution on the left side chest wall along the T4-5 dermatome. ⋯ It should be mentioned that 59% of the cases reported had been diagnosed with herpes zoster at the time of the initial examination and that many of them had received drug therapy (e.g. acyclovir). We wish to add the dermatomic eruption mimicking zoster sine herpete to the list of possible presentations of cutaneous malignancies.

Burn scars treated by pinhole method using a carbon dioxide laser.
Many patients with burn injuries have various complications and emotional problems due to scars. Although various modalities to improve burn scars have been attempted, such as excision of scars, skin grafts, laser abrasion and silicone product usage, the cosmetic outcomes have not been satisfactory for a large portion of patients. ⋯ As early as only a few weeks after the treatment, the scars showed relaxation of contracture, reduction of wrinkles and improvement of texture and color compared to before the treatment. Treatment of burn scars with the pinhole method can be easily performed and results in dramatic improvement in scar quality with only a few side-effects.

Hypertrichosis lanuginosa acquisita (HLA) is an unusual condition which is characterized by subtle and progressive development of multiple, long, thin, unmedullated hairs ("lanugo hairs") distributed preferentially on the face. Most cases are associated with malignant tumors or non-malignant condition such as porphyria cutanea tarda, AIDS, anorexia nervosa, thyrotoxicosis, or secondary to topical or systemic drugs (e.g. cyclosporine, phenytoin, diazoxide, minoxidil). ⋯ To our best knowledge, this is the first report of hypertrichosis lanuginosa acquisita associated with autoimmune hepatitis. Our observation expands the spectrum of diseases associated with this uncommon disorder.

Narrow-band ultraviolet B as monotherapy and in combination with topical calcipotriol in the treatment of vitiligo.
Vitiligo is a common, idiopathic, acquired, depigmenting disease characterized by loss of normal melanin pigments in the skin. The most interesting treatment methods for extensive vitiligo involve psoralen plus ultraviolet A (PUVA) therapy and ultraviolet (UV)-B phototherapy, particularly narrow-band UV-B. In this randomized and comparative study, we investigated the safety and efficacy of narrow band ultraviolet B as monotherapy and in combination with topical calcipotriol in the treatment of generalized vitiligo. ⋯ The present study reconfirmed the efficacy of NBUVB phototherapy in vitiligo. It can be a therapeutic option considered in the management of patients with vitiligo. However, addition of topical calcipotriol to NBUVB did not show any advantage.

Two cases of telangiectasia macularis eruptiva perstans demonstrated by immunohistochemistry for c-kit (CD 117).
Telangiectasia macularis eruptiva perstans (TMEP) is an uncommon form of cutaneous mastocytosis that occurs exclusively in adults. Histologically, TMEP presents with scattered mast cells lined up around the dilated capillaries and venules of the superficial vascular plexus. ⋯ We used immunohistochemical staining for c-kit (CD 117) for the definitive diagnosis in two patients with TMEP. One of them was successfully treated with topical application of pimecrolimus.
